2000 Triton TR21 Bass Boat Makeover

My 2000 Triton TR21 bass boat has seen many upgrades. Joining the Triton Facebook group many years ago inspired most of the changes you see in this video. I am thankful to all of the group members for generously sharing their wisdom and knowledge. It has been a gradual process. The carpet and trailer will be completed eventually but, for now, I am very pleased with the restoration process. I invite you to check out the changes. If you have any questions or comments, please share and I will do my best to help as others have helped me along the way.

    Thanks Wood Angling, it has definitely been a fun and worthwhile project. It will likely be my last boat so some tender loving care is a necessary ingredient for sure!

    Very Nice Job! Do you happen to have any photos of the bow with no carpet? I have a broken seat pedestal base to replace and am not sure if it is the standard 7" x 7" threaded base. I peeled the carpet back about 3" and didn't see any screws. I may need to peel it back a little more.

    Sorry Phil I do not have any pictures. My carpet is still the original carpet. My marina did do a repair job on my bow pedestal base about 10 years ago.

    I never removed my windshields when trailering, and now they have stress cracks everywhere. I don't trailer the boat with the cover on now unless the weather is really bad.

    I rarely use my cover either Ryan. Removing them eliminates any cause for concern. If in doubt, take them off.

    Hello- do you leave the windshields on when you tarp it? I just bought used 2000 TR21 and the dealer instructed me to remove the windshields for travel.... which makes sense but also seems stupid.... thanks for your advice. PS I looked at the metal rings on the tarp rope and considered a dozen ways that they might be used, but thanks to you...I finished my amazon purchase of the rope ratchet before your video ended lol

    I always made it a habit of taking the windshields off as that is what was recommended to me also. However when I added the piece to the tarp it fit better and I have left the windshields on for the last few years without an issue. I asked this question a few years ago and Triton owners seemed to be 50/50 on this. The dealers will tell you this as the windshields are plastic and there is certainly potential for breakage. If I notice I am starting to get any damage then I will go back to taking them off. For now, they’re staying on. Hope this helps.

    Hopefully you got the bigger size of rope ratchet strap as they are stronger. I make it a habit of checking them when I stop, sometimes you have to tighten them up.

    Brian, I had to replace windshields because the previous owner trailered it with the tarp cover and windshields on. There were so many stress cracks, I couldn't see through them. :)

    There is definitely no risk of damaging windshields from tarp when you take them off. My windshields had lots of stress marks despite taking them off when using the tarp. I think that the age of the windshields is a factor in contributing to stress marks. Taking them off is certainly a better safe than sorry option. Leaving them on lately has been a convenience choice more than anything else. Knock on wood, so far, so good.

    How's the fuel economy with the efi? I've heard mixed reviews, but how many mpg do you think you get or how many miles on a tank

  • @stevechiassonfishing5876

    @stevechiassonfishing5876

    I have an Optimax, not an EFI. Fuel economy is better on the Optimax than the EFI. To be honest, I really don’t know the mpg. I have a big tank, 54 gallons from what I remember so I can go long times between fuel ups. I know gas mileage isn’t great but it is what it is. Sorry I don’t have a more specific answer for you.

    What is the red tape on your Ultrex and mega 360 for?

  • @stevechiassonfishing5876

    @stevechiassonfishing5876

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Shaun, I forgot to mention that in video. When I am raising the trolling motor to fish shallower, the red tape marks allow me to keep the proper spacing between the prop and the M360 spinning transducer. If I simply raised the trolling motor it would hit and damage the transducer. The M360 needs to be pointed in the proper direction as well. I have slots in the tape that align with the bracket so I know it’s always pointed in the proper direction. If you send me some contact information I will send you a picture of the slots in tape I am referring to.

    @@stevechiassonfishing5876 thanks Steve! Now you need a troll jacket for those cables on your trolling motor. I ordered a neoprene cable management from Amazon instead for like $20 and it’s the exact same!! Good deal

    I have seen those they are definitely cool. I edited my first reply to say send contact information and I will send you a picture of the tape slots aligning with slot in Ultrex bracket. I wasn’t sure if you saw it after editing. The tape takes the guesswork out especially if you are in a tournament or somewhere you have to adapt quickly.

    7:03 7:04 I just bought a 2006 Triton and the same issue with the cover. I am in the US so it’s not an option to use the same vendor that you did. Is there a template available to I can use to add that triangle over the trolling motor?

    I live in Canada so pricing is more expensive here due to the Canadian dollar. Unfortunately, new boats are well over $100 000 so it made more sense to me do a makeover on my 2000 Triton.
