thank you, I have a 2000 Toyota celica gts with 210k on it. I am thinking of replacing the head cover gasket too and the lift bolts! With how you presented how it is done it gave me a motivation to do it.

He is blunt and no nonsense. This is nearly identical to a 2000 1.8 Litre Corolla engine from Toyota.

I’ve gotten the valve cover gasket replaced on my car (Celica 2000 GTS) several times by different shops and it always leaks after a couple thousand miles. Could it be something else that they’re not catching?

It it's the back corner it could be the timing tensioner.

I can see the gasket all around the cover, is normal? Or it’s has to close completely. I put a new gasket

It’s normal. That’s how it looks. Just make sure that there’s no areas where the gasket is crazy sticking out. Just make sure all the sides look the same.

Off of what you said, it doesn't sound like valve cover gaskets. Maybe valve seals. Hard to tell from a comment sorry. I definitely recommend taking it somewhere because it sounds like something more.

@@Gatornation2020 I’d say around 1.5h. Just find out what their hourly rate is and multiply it by that. Should be around there.

Wow no torque wrench on the valve cover bolts???

To be honest I've been working in the field for a while and I've be doing this for a long time. Over time you get the feel of how much a certain torque is by hand. Especially lower torque specs
