Honda will charge a lot, It's hard to find an ECM even a refurbished one. You may have to pull one at a junkyard. The car and year is fairly popular.

It's the cars computer, but yes it controls the transmission.

Barry Fennell so am changing the ecu because I have a check engine that says replace the transmission control system but when I swapped ecu car just cranked no start if I put the old 1 on its starts without a problem. What do you think o should do

google says... Turn the key to AUXILIARY (or RUN) position (ignition half way to where all the lights come on - at this point the "Check Engine" light needs to be ON... if it's on then the ECU is in working condition). Let sit for another five (5) minutes. Turn off the car. Turn the ignition, car should start right away. i dont know other than that.

@@juliolonghares8730 You would need to have the new ECU coded with your VIN number, or it wont work, thats generally how it works with every other car. Don't be so quick to replace a computer, it is rarely the computer which is broken.
