Currently in the process of building this! Legs and desk support done, hoping to wrap the rest up this week. I loved this build as the frame is resting on the 2x4s and bolted. Much prefer the security of you having done it this way versus pocket screws which is what many builds seem to use 😳🤯. Many thanks for posting!

I've looking for a good video on how to build a loft for a long time because all the loft beds I keep finding are either made out of metal (which I rather have wood because I think it would be easy to take care of and take down if I need to) or they were outlandishly expensive. I'm really going to consider this in the future when my family moves

I used zinc #6 drywall screws and eyeballed the joints where they were used. Typical lengths I used.... 2x4 to 2x4: 3" 2X4 to 1XX: 1 5/8", almost always driving from the 1X side 1X to 1X: almost always 1 5/8" - but - if there was any risk of poke though, 1 1/4" Carriage bolts: 5/16" - 1/4" should be find but the head size is almost the same between the two so I went larger. CLAMP EVERYTHING AND USE WOODGLUE TOO!!!!!!!!! I also drilled pilot holes if there were knots nearby/etc (better safe then sorry) / Thanks for the comment!

What an excellent comment / thanks for sharing! I am far from a mattress expert and learned something today! Perhaps in a future video I can retrofit back to slats and/or modify it to be more breathable. Thanks for the comment along with teaching me something new!

@@TacoJoesHouse maybe just put a few holes in the OSB/plywood. Here in the Netherlands (Europe) you already have holed bed plates in the Home Depot. It’s essentially the same thing as MDF with cheese grater pattern.

This looks amazing. My daughter is 13 and loves art but no room for her to have her own "studio". I think I know how to fix that

Do you by chance have dimensions for a Queen loft like this? Also what did you use to round the book shelf pieces?

would you be able to build this without the desk underneath? or is the desk needed to make the frame sturdy?

yes you definitely can, but you may want to explore ways to re-enforce the legs in place of the desk (maybe another shelf?). Thanks for the comment

I'm curious if that desktop you got is solid wood or laminate. Thx.

Hi Joe (and Taco Joe) - same question here. I didn’t recognize that material and am curious where you got it and how you finished it. I built a desk a few years back and used 5-6 coats of water based poly with sanding between coats. It still came out like an orange peel and felt really weird. Suggestions on desk top material appreciated
