200 Most Important Irregular Verbs in English | Pronunciation and Grammar Lesson

Irregular verbs. We know-they're scary. Especially in English, which has a lot of them. And there are no shortcuts to learning them; they just have to be memorized. Verbs that look like they should fall into patterns generally do not. Why should it be "stink - stank - stunk" but not "bring - brang -brung"? To make things even worse, not only the conjugation but also the pronunciation of these words tends to be irregular. The reasons for that are complicated, but they have to do with the fact that many of these are among the oldest words in English, and the pronunciation often follows the languages from which the words were borrowed.
But fortunately, we've compiled a big list of irregular verbs for you. You can watch this video anywhere-at home, in line at the market, at a boring event. So, let's get to work on English irregular verbs! 7esl.com/irregular-verbs/

Thanks for this amazing and useful lesson. Nevertheless I would like to ask you why there are 2 or even 3 forms of past tense or participle for instance : Dream- dreamt/dreamed. Is this because of the way it's used in British and American? In that case which one is British 🇬🇧 or American 🇺🇲? Thanks in advance for your answer.👍

These vary. Dreamt is more common in Britain, but both are used in both places. Some of the others are British/American, while others are simply both acceptable.

Great question! Like you guessed, usually it's a difference between British and American English. Dream - dreamt (UK) / dreamed (USA) learn - learnt (UK) / learned (USA)
