This is actually a very basic move for dogs. And this one didn’t do it with much grace. I had a dog who climbed actual ladders, with gaps. Not all dogs do that but it’s not that rare

You can actually see her learn as she takes each step what works and remembers. Wonderful! (Edited to correct dog's sex. Frankly that wasn't a concern. But hey, no wonder I'm still single. Meanwhile, back to this great doggie.) and THANK YOU for all your replies, accolades, corrections and concerns! Happy New Year!

I fell off one just like it when I was a kid. My neighbor had a treehouse with this kind of ladder, I climbed up it on the right side or something instead of down the middle. The ladder started spinning because I put too much weight on one side and flung me off, I was a good 10 feet up atleast. I land flat on my back thinking I’m gonna have some broke bones. I got up, dusted myself off and even my friend was worried I’d got hurt. All I had was a scratch on my back but other than that nothing happened.

The angle is unnecessarily crazy steep!😅

It's actually easier to climb it this way. Just imagine a regular ladder at a less steep angle, it would be very difficult to climb. The same physics apply here.

We actually fashioned a lift out of a large cooler and lowered her down. She didn't like it very much she jumped out when it was about 3 or 4 feet of the ground. But she was uninjured which was the important part.

I miss my huskies . They were my babies. 😢

For many years I trained service dogs for military vets. We would get many breeds donated to our program. I always found it very interesting that some of the so called "smartest" breeds were so afraid of walking up stairs. I trained a standard poodle and she thought she was gonna fall through the concrete stairs. She would tip toe up the stairs until we started coaxing her up the stairs with treats, then she eventually got used to it.

As a kid we had a Blue tick , one night in a thunderstorm we hear her howling like crazy. We go outside and she's on the roof of the shop stuck. We had left a ladder on the side and she had chased a raccoon up a nearby tree. I got up the ladder in the rain and she's looking at me just wagging her tail snorting like: " Well I ain't gonna rescue myself". Happy times.

That's very good to see in a dog if they will try things they're nervous or unsure of. Shows the handler or owner have encouraged the dog through scary things and boosted it's confidence well.

Our German shepherd followed us over the ladder. When he was standing alone in the yard, he howled at first and then suddenly he was right next to us. I love to see how animals find a solution so quickly or learn something new.

@Dean Gregoric I guess you missed the angle of the planks, and how tiny the steps are. Regardless, it looks like a dangerous climb for a two or four legged creature.

@@craigellsworth3952 planks are placed in such a way that anything climbing has enough grip to stay on, infact is much harder for human because our legs are too big but for tiny dog paws is more than enough

I had a roommate once with a dog who was part husky. She fell in love with my niece one day and climbed the stairs of the play house in my sister’s back yard to play with her. huskies just gotta be with their people.
