I have a BC4215 and use it ALL the time. It has as you described some limitations however a little thought and planning those are overcome easily. You are so correct on the negative reviews which are unjustly being pushed as gospel. I like the fact it can be switched between my 3032 and my 4044 each tractor uses this tool differently. 3032 = brush and wood chunks and even if you rake up piles of hay in the hay barn I can grab most of it with the BC4215, might be a shovel full after the first grab. 4044 loads logs on to the processor and some of those logs are HEAVY, 3 years later just the paint is a little rough as it should be. Thank you for giving it a fair shake!

I bought a BC-4215 from GWT a few years ago. I like it, and love the fact that I didn't have to spend extra to run front hydraulics, but as Courtney said, it has its limitations. Not being able to drop a load into taller piles (or trailers) is a big one, but I've also had issues with small-to-medium-sized brush/trees getting tangled around the tines, and then not being able to extricate them because there's no real force (except gravity) to pull the jaws apart. When I make my second million (ha-ha!), I'm GOING to add front hydraulics (or divert my rears) and get a hydraulic grapple, but until then my BC does just fine.

I have a John Deere 3038E, No hydraulics, a feature that I now would like to have, But when I purchased the 3038E it was about cost. I have it seem like an original BC-4200 Grapple with no middle section with is a new offer. I really have worked out the BC-4200 on my tractor as it was the best solution for the price range. I have no problems dumping the load over an embankment, But I have picked up cement culverts, which weight allot, and stacked them. Try that with your hydraulic or electric grapple. LOL, Your version of the grapple in the video looks like some improvements have been made. The only irritation on my version are the grease (zerk) fitting locations. Mine seem to be off center and makes it hard to grease. Still able to do it, but just seems off to me.

I was going to purchase one of these for my 1025R but then I started reading comments from other KZreadrs that have stated to stay away from it because it puts too much pressure on the pin quick release latches and ends up ripping them out of the tractor and costing over $1000 to have both sides fixed and also bending the hydraulic cylinders there’s been people that have had to have this damage replaced multiple times from using this grapple and they claim that it wasn’t any work being done with it that was out of the scope of what it supposed to be used for so I’m afraid to buy one now

I've been able to get a ton of work done with mine moving logs and brush. However, I've been a little disappointed with it because the arms or forks (not sure what to call them) bend too easily. Don't let him shoot pellets or BB's into water as a LOT of times when BB's or pellets hit the water they will ricochet right straight back at the shooter. I had a customer whose boy was shooting frogs around their pond and the BB came right back and through his eye and he now has a glass eye. With the fixed bottom jaw it doesn't seem to be the utilitarian piece of equipment that some people would want. Yes it worked and did the job for you but someone looking for one versatile piece of equipment may opt for something else.

Correct, it has limitations. It’s a simple design not requiring extra hydraulic circuits to be installed on the tractor. Many folks don’t want to spend that money on the hydraulics or go through the hassle.

The fixed jaw hasn't been an issue for me. If you adjust it further down it dumps much easier and has a wider opening. But yes, if you can afford it, full function grapples are a better choice.

I did have to remove the serrations on the upper teeth. They wouldn't let brush fall out. After that, no issues.

If the brush is not falling out you leave it curled set it on the ground so the ground is catching the brush and then uncurl or set it on the pile you’re putting the brush on and uncurl, it I’ve never had to get off of my tractor to get the brush out of mine

Well I didn’t plan to burn it there haha, I don’t think I’ll burn at all. Would make some good critter cover where it’s at.
