Your story reminds me of what my professor Tom Lyle used to tell us. He wanted to make sure his students didn't feel bad not landing a job right out of college. And that no one was ever too old to start pursuing art. He would tell us he didn't know what he wanted to do until his 30s when he started to pursue art. He would go to portfolio reviews, conventions, etc. And there was one guy who always told him to give up, he started too late and was too old. Tom Lyle ended being an artist for Spiderman (and more!) He would always laugh when he told us that and that the other guy was a fool for doubting him. He was awesome and really cared about his students.

When I was younger I wanted to be an artist, I wanted to write my own stories and for the most part illustrate them myself But I was someone that if I didn't see immediate improvement I would get dejected, and dejected I was. It's been 10 years or so since I last drew anything, but a little bit ago I found your channel and fell in love with your work. Your story reminded me of what I had always wanted to do, and I was disappointed in myself for stopping something I honestly dreamt of doing for no real reason. I want to pick up drawing again, and maybe in some years I'll be able to illustrate one of my own writings like I've always wanted to. Thanks to anyone who reads this! I know its a bit late for some to see this comment but I was near tears with the story and I had wanted to express myself somehow, even if it's a bit long

I'd liked drawing since I was 6 years old and I drew constantly and went to competitions. But one day I just got bored of it decided to quit. Watching this motivated me to give it a shot again (I've been trying to learn how to draw characters of my own for the longest time but I still suck). Hopefully this time I don't quit and keep practicing

Never in my life have I cried so hard. You just reignited my motivation and passion for drawing. A few days ago I was down in the dumps seeing how my “art” wasn’t at all improving. I thought to myself that I wasn’t ever going to be the artist I want to be. But you just washed all the doubt away. Thanks.

I loved this comic series!!!! Mainly because of your art, it was so unique and different. It took the characters to a new life and it made me imagine how it would look animated while reading it everytime. It's even more amazing now that I know the story behind it!!! You're awesome, and I hope someday I get to do something with Spidey too. ♥️♥️♥️

i loved spideys suit (tried to draw the front spider a bunch of times) and i really liked Peter's design and doctor connor's adaptation!! it reminded me a little bit of the 2003 MTV series, that was 3D animated and Curt's storyline was also kinda sad. (not as sad as yours tho, lol)

Wow what are the odds! I've had one comic book of Spider-Man since I was a kid maybe two...and it turns out that they were your quality-of-life series!! I think about it whenever Spider-Man pops into my head or arrives in front of my eyes. The artwork was so beautiful and the rendering was something the likes of I've never seen before. Years later, a 3D version of Spider-Man on MTV reminded me of your work... And Then One day, random weeks ago, on shorts, a video popped up it (Lord of the Rings character) and I subscribed! Now, come to find out that I've known you artistically without knowing you since I was too young to comprehend that each series, story and artwork are done by different artists. How miraculous that your dream came true! YET despite your dreams coming true you are still so humble, kind, and joyful. Gives little and big me hope that the dreams myself and close peers harbor can come true with perseverance, patience and passion! Truly a blessing Scott.

Don't blame your dad, sometimes things just don't work out, or you find that the sacrifice needed to make your dream come true isn't worth it in the end. It's important to have dreams and to try to achieve them, but if things don't work out in the end that's ok too, as long as you are happy with your choices, or can live without regrets.
So inspirational! You reignited my old dream of becoming a comic book artist. I'm going to keep practicing and improving myself. Thank you!

Honestly knowing it took so long actually makes me feel a bit better. I feel like artists nowadays are pressured to get in and have their dream really early on when sometimes all it really takes is some patience and space to breathe and move at your own pace. Lovely story and really happy for you.
This video just popped up in my feed today and it's perfect timing for Christmas! I love your art and I'm glad you achieved your dream! I'm 35 and currently working a less than fulfilling job to support my son who's 3. If I get any of my dreams it'll be wonderful, but my son is the one blessing that I will sacrifice anything else for.
2000s animation has mostly aged poorly but these still look good! Great work!

I was digging through my dad‘s old comics and I found yours I am so shocked the dialogue is amazing the art perfect and I AM IN LOVE WITH IT
Even if the designs of characters from 2 decades looked wonky from technological limitations it's very amazing how good it still looked.
This is so inspirational! Your channel is basically a hub where every form of artist can go to and learn from videos like these, you sir is a true influencer and a legend!
Inspirational. Just found your channel recently and im so glad that i did. Your '60 days of studying the masters' has rejuvenated my love for art has has inspired me to get back into doing studies of artsts that arent necessarily my usual 'style'. The passion you have for artsts and their work is contagious and i cant wait to get myself down to my local art gallery next weekend and get sketching. Ive even dropped the drawing tablet in favour of watercolours as i feel like it gives you more of a connection to the work and forces you to adapt with the chaos of watercolours as youve put it. Thank you for creating such great content Scott, youve really pulled me out of a rut and brought my love for the craft back. You sir, are a fantastic teacher and inspiration. I hope your work brings you as much joy as it does to others. Much love from England
This man working on Power rangers is a help to what my childhood was
Your life intersected with mine, just now, for the first time. You're right, this made me smile, and was totally worth watching. Just know, a lady in Jacksonville, is happy for you. 🤗😊
I mean, before getting to it you did already amazing comics and art. Now, I respect that it's your dream but I think your work seems more remarkable outside of what you did for that spiderman comic series.
That is so cool! I'm happy that you achieved your dream. Congratulations!

Whoa, your work was one of the first comics I ever bought! I don't remember a ton about it cuz I was 10 or so and got it in a comic store in Australia while on vacation, but it was the 3D art style with Spidey and Doc Ock fighting. This was super inspiring to hear!
I love this so much, you are an incredible inspiration to everyone watching, no matter what their field is.
Thanks for the inspiration. I hope to be a writer and animator and ur story is so motivating

Wow!!! It's soooo inspiring how he never gave up! I truly look to you and hope I'll someday be as determined and as good an artist, as you are!!
"change the process, change the outcome" Mick Gordon said something like this, and that's how he made the 2016 Doom Eternal soundtrack Will say, a little bummed that his actual art got rejected, and then the 3d animation was accepted, would've loved to see your 2d art for spiderman in a comic
Thank you for the entertainment and inspiration all my life

It’s so cool seeing you actually achieved your dream. I hope one day you could work on more Spider-Man projects like a new show or perhaps a new Spider-Man comic.
Everytime I am scared of messing up or that I will never pass my obstacles you enter my mind Scott. You are amazing and I would to see you making more Spiderman graphic novels and even take part in future movies.

This is so heartwarmingly wonderful ❤️
Nice to know this story. I read this book many years ago, when I was around 13 and starting to read comics. It was one of those books that I could never forget, in this case not because of the plot itself but because of the catchy title (always liked "Quality of Life", or "Qualidade de Vida", how we call here in Brazil) and because of the unique art style. Thanks for sharing.
I totally remember getting these as a kid! So cool that you were behind them
Wow that’s such a great story to hear, it’s awesome how your dream of so many years finally became a reality
I hope you get a chance to do something like this again for Spider-Man. The technology 20 years ago definitely didn’t work well enough for a full-fledged comic but now? A 3D comic would definitely be cool
this is so inspirational thank you!

Wow that was actually really awesome to hear! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
