I think the new homestead is turning out awesome,love the property your on, at least you are closer to doctors and conveniences. Can’t wait to see the finished home.
Jeremy and Ashley your Cabin is reminding me of our “current “ home… makeshift kitchen accompanied by various tools… 😉 I call it our “Construction Cabin Site”.. I KNOW you can relate totally 👍🏼👍🏼 Keep up the awesome work!!
Thanks for the tour, it’s fun to see how far you’ve come!
Beautiful Cabin, it will last a long time. And will bring alot memories that you guy's will remember forever. Sam will tell all her friends you know what my Mom and Dad did for me when I young. She will cherish all of this forever. Thank You for Sharing. Roger

That cabin is looking better and better every day. Look how much you and Ashley have accomplished so far. I love it! Are you going to sell the beautiful farm house? I can tell that you, Ashley and princess Samantha really enjoy been at the cabin. Is a matter of a little more time, my sweets, that everything will be done. I can't hardly wait to see the day when you'll be moving in. God bless you, dear hearts! Be safe!

It's the right size, nothing else is really needed. Congrats!

Awesome tour! The place looks great!! I would have thought a stove rated for 3x your space would make it too hot, but you just build the fire and let it burn down low?
The Security Camera System was Super Smart 💡
🤣 "pointless" LOL Great Cabin!
Beauty snowman, eh. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Give you a pass for not having Ash in this one LOL But man I can't wait to see it all finished! Looks awesome from the outside! Take care Jeremy!
You guys are doing great! How deep is your well going to be? I can't wait to move there even tho your email said "why on earth would you move to NB" lol

I was glad when you said this cabin was going to become your homestead because I was thinking, this is nothing like the off grid cabins I’ve seen on KZread, it’s house! If I could ask, what your power source and are you worried about the ever changing permafrost line? ( that way of ‘seating’ your base was new to me.)
@MBFModernHomesteading
Жыл бұрын
We have portable power stations that we are using at the moment to power. We will also utilize propane for the stove and hot water. And no worries on the screw piles.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love the front porch!!
I'm on time this go around hey have y'all ever thought or heard of a mini-split they do both heating and cooling 9000 btu or a 12,000 btu MrCool or a Senville mines Senville but a lot of people on solar are using these along with they wood stove to heat they whole cabins and they are very efficient look up running mini-split on Solar I think it's something y'all would like
@MBFModernHomesteading

Thanks and we have seen those and think it would be a great idea in here :)
@diysolaradventures7894
Жыл бұрын
@@MBFModernHomesteading yes because you can fire up the wood stove power up just the blower part of the mini split it sucks the hot air in from the top part of the indoor unit in blows it out in your cabin and that's without even having the outdoor unit running even though it also provide heat to when you put the setting on heat
:THANKS :
I’ve been following your channel for a long time and learn from what you do and hopefully it will carry over to my cabin build someday. I’m sure a garage build will follow sooner or later. But I wonder…what ever happened to the puppy you had?

What are your plans for closet space?
Very nice, are you on solar or electric from the road
Did you figure out a way to use the shower ? I thought there was a reason that model wouldn’t work with your set up. Have a great week and thanks for sharing.

We should still be able to use it as long as the fixtures are moved.
my problem with a porch is a get this overwhelming feeling that 'if you wall that in you have a bigger cabin' but then I would have to build a porch.........
@MBFModernHomesteading

Haha I also have those thoughts cross my mind.
If this will become a full time live in home I would recommend additional electrical devices
Ok 👍👌 super
From a full time framer, I think you got skills. Its looking great. I'd like to build something similar. Do you have access underneath the floor? Was there a reason for the low slope roof or just make it easier to work on?
@MBFModernHomesteading
6 ай бұрын
Hey, we have a couple access points at the rear of the building for underneath, I can also get under from the front if need be under the deck. We went with a 4 / 12 pitch as I was putting them up with my wife in the winter and made it easier. It is the lowest I would go around here with the snow, but lots of folks have them like this and it works. I usually do a 5/12 so I can still easily walk on it too.
Looks good. ❤ Some people number their blogs #1, #2 etc, ⚠️ Easy to follow the whole story ⛔️

What size floor beams did you use? 2x ? and what size floor joist did you use? Did you over Build or was that the requirement?
@MBFModernHomesteading

2 x 8 3 ply floor beams and 2 x 8 floor joists. We built according to a joist span table.
I like the lights you installed in the bedrooms. Can you please provide a manufacturer/name & model?
@MBFModernHomesteading

They are from Princess Auto is all I remember.
How do you heat the bedrooms? Does the wood stove create enough heat that it keeps the bedrooms warm even through the walls? The living area must be a lot warmer because the wood stove is tight there? Just curious? Thanks
@MBFModernHomesteading
10 ай бұрын
The wood stove, if anything, you would probably want to keep the doors closed so you aren’t too hot. And as long as you regulate the fire properly and have a good wood stove, you can manage the heat pretty good. Thanks 😊

Serious question…why not use rock wool in the exterior walls also?
@MBFModernHomesteading
8 ай бұрын
The cost is nearly double and unnecessary for the exterior walls. We use it inside for sound dampening, it is already very quiet out here in the woods for the exterior.
@Genetk44

@@MBFModernHomesteading thanks…but it also acts as insulation against the cold too doesn’t it?
