@@lordofrims What do you want??? To live forever??? Racing and motorsport in general are known highly risky activities... If you aren't willing to accept that, stay out... TOO MUCH focus on safety creates a society full of cowards and depression and anxiety... and eventually a whole generation of shut-ins who can't possibly function outside of their sterile little bubbles... I've raced motorcycles... AND people die. It sucks, but such is life. The whole value to it is that one day, it's OVER and you don't get to know exactly when that is or how long you've got until you're on "short time"... and by then, it's too late to do much about it. Yeah, there's no sense in making it more dangerous than it has to be, but the actual "real life" risk posed to other competitors was relatively minor... A year just seems like a whole lot of wasted time over no more than that. ;o)

It was a hap-hazard POTENTIAL projectile at the very worst... AND with the kinds of safety gear involved in racing cars, probably NOT a particularly dangerous one at that... Most of the "hazard" would be the drivers' dubious reactions to a spectacle... should it have even been hit. ;o)
