I am brand new to Linux, and specifically to Zorin (which I heard about from Liron Segev). You provide so much helpful information here. I will be sure to watch more of your videos. You have earned a new sub my good man. Cheers and Namaste!
This was a really good and helpful collection of tweaks! I started to test Zorin as a daily driver in dual boot with Windows yesterday and I'm shocked how well Linux desktop evolved since I last tried it - Zorin does a very good job for me so far.
Timeshift has been an absolute godsend for me for many years now. I always had sync to automatically copy my files to the cloud and external drives. Timeshift allows me to completely nuke my system and get back to without any stress. Thanks for letting more people know about this.
You sir are a genius and an absolute star for putting this tutorial together and saving us hours of research and trial and error to get a new Zorin system up and running in a good way! Fantastic! Liked & Subscribed!
Excellent information, I've been a Windows user for years and got into Linux a couple of years ago. Your help is very helpful, I am currently using Zorin Os on one of my computers. It is a PC from the year 2007 and with 7 GB of Ram and an Athon x2. The truth works great. I recommend it.

I've tried them all and speaking personally Mint and Zorin are miles ahead of the game. Both were reliable. I like the simple sleekness of Zorin. Mint is good, but a bit clunky in terms of visuals. Zorin and Mint use the same installer process. Zorin was the only distro that handled my duel booting without a clinch. It worked seamlessly.

@@rohanleander yes it's very easy First install VENTOY on usb (watch a yt video to setup) this will allow you to boot multiple iso from same USB without formatting it evertime. You will have to choose manual partitioning and create a 500Mb disk for EFI system partition on which you will install the bootloader next resize your partition and make multiple partition for multiple OS. Everytime mark boot flag to 500 mb drive and install the distro in required partition You can see videos on manual partitioning and websites too there are plenty of help

sounds nice, i was actually thinking of putting mint on my laptop for emergencies and to mess around and get my feet wet with linux (i'm a long time windows user). maybe ill try zorin OS instead and see what happens ... my past experience with wine has been miserable and kept me from going further but it sounds like zorin os automates wine if need be.

@@lynxsss5403 Power to your elbow! I hope the Lite version does it too. In my opinion this is a MAJOR selling point for Zorin. Now all I need to do is get my graphics tablets working and then Windows OS will become an irrelevance. I found a 'trick' to the justify problem. Basically insert a 'blank' column to the right of my previous most RHS column, then I can left justify what used to be the old last column. But found another problem.... File manager (Nautilus I believe) doesn't seen to remember the positions I had just before I close the file manager window.

This was a great video man. Do you happen to have a video on "things to do after installing" -security edition or something? I'm never sure how secure my system is with SSH and firewall etc. I just want to know that I'm safe on Linux. I know I'm safer than Windows or Mac but I'd really like to know how to lock down my system if I'm the only one using it, local files only, no SSH or remote anything. I don't have a problem with SSH or remote storage and virtual machines. I access my cloud storage from my laptops but I cant help feeling my desktop is vulnerable somehow. I could really use a linux security for noobs. Any suggestions? Im gonna look through the rest of your videos to see if you already covered it and if you did, thank you and sorry if you read this far. I didn't mean it to be so long.

Hello, in most scenarios you're very safe on Linux. But if you want to take it one more step ahead, you can install UFU(uncomplicated firewall). This is easy to install and configure and is very secure in monitoring and blocking what comes and goes from your computer via the net.
@aussierule
2 жыл бұрын
@@LinuxTex Thank you for the reply and reassurance man. I have UFW enabled and configured. I think I'm just being overly paranoid. Nothing weird or bad has happened, I just like to "make sure the airbags are turned on in the car" in case I get into an accident. It's ironic because I switched over from windows on all of my laptops but kept windows as a dual boot option on my desktop. It's not eligible for Windows 11 so I think I'm probably just gonna format everything and install Peppermint OS or Linux Mint and say goodbye to Windows once and for all. Gotta be honest all this paranoia stems from Windows lol. Hard wrapping my head around the control I have over my stuff now. I'm still learning of course so thank you very much for this video and your response. Good health to you, friend.

I think it's very intuitive and for those that merely need a browser, streaming services, and word processor, this OS excels! For more advanced users, the world is yours - it's Linux after all. I also like the lightweight nature of the operating system - it idles with 1.1 used gigs of ram (pretty good!).

Also stop distro-hopping, you will never stay with one if you just keep moving to the ones that you aesthetically like the most, give it some time, if you are having real difficulties then you can move on. Also you won't learn anything if you just keep hopping like that.
