20 Strangest Places Where People Actually Live
Ойын-сауық
Although most of the places that people usually live are kind of box-shaped and divided into spaces to perform all the usual human functions like sleeping, eating and peeing, sometimes people have placed those box-shaped dwellings in some especially unusual spots around the world. We have put together a brief list of just a few of the weirder ones.
From the coldest place on planet Earth to a micro-nation platform in the middle of the sea, here are 20 Strangest Places Where People Actually Live.

The girl dragging the bin through the snow at the end of the film from the cold city in Russia is Swedish, and the clip was filmed in Sweden, as you can see from the traditional red and white house behind her. Even the bin is typically Swedish. I should know, because I’m Swedish and have had to do the exact same thing myself!

Or, rather than waiting until other hard working people and their governments (who love to waste the hard working people's money) to do something, perhaps they can get off their asses, get off the dope, and rise above their situation. Hell, maybe they don't even want to! Maybe thinking that they have sucky lives is a form of being judgmental. Maybe they're right where they belong.

There are over 10 countries has reconstruct Chinese suzhou garden in their countries including US ,I think it’s just a respect and favorite to a iconic place/building. We have been to Coober Pedy 3 or 4 times over the years. We lived in dug out accommodation twice for the experience the first time, and because we went again another time with a couple who hadn't been there. On other occasions, we lived above in the Big 4 and other places. It wasn't bad either. There was air conditioning. With the last trip we did about 4 years ago, the place has changed. The population has increased as well.

I have had enough trouble with the stairs in our being restored "mini" (just under 3000 sq ft) Victorian. We bought the place for a song, with the intention of it being one of the oldest in town and near downtown right in front of the library and somewhat historic we thought if we got it restored we might be able to sell it for up to $80,000 more than we paid and save a beautiful historic place in the process without it getting torn down or collapsing over time. But..I fell down the stairs three times and one of the times i was out for six weeks with a sprain ankle and living on the first floor for two weeks!

It's so strange how differently people live across the world. I'm glad to live in a time where I can see so many different cultures even if I can't afford to visit them all myself. And the fact that people were able to haul extremely heavy building supplies up the steep sides of mountains during ancient times boggles my mind.....
Just checking, I'm pretty sure that every image of China's Hallstatt, except maybe some street scenes, were of Austrian Hallstatt. The Chinese Hallstatt is not located in a particularly mountainous area.

I wonder if the hanging temple of Hengshan was the inspiration for that cliff house in A Series of Unfortunate Events. It was almost certainly the inspiration for the Western Air Temple.

10:33 The people from tunnels of Bucharest are not any more since 2014. That video was made by Channel 4 about Romania and the only thing about Bucharest was about that people which does not represent the reality of entire of the town. That case presented was a particular case. The authorities several times moved them (I remember some news from around 2012) to special buildings, but they also fled to the street, because they already had a life formed in a gang (leader + people of leader and others who lived next to them). All were tested seropositive.
I must MUST visit al!!
If I was fortunate enough to build and live at Casa do Penedo in Portugal, and have annoying intruders coming without appointment, I would definitely have an electrified fence around the crown of that mountain, with another fence inside that and half a dozen Dobermans keeping me company. Want to come for the view and a picnic, make a reservation! And do I see a swimming pool there on the edge? Also it's nuts to not have electricity with all that wind turbine generator power. Also, what kind of water source is up there? Rain cisterns ?
Awesome awesome
I'd love to have the French Riviera just down the hill from my house here in central PA. 😁

You couldn't do that in Wisconsin or South Dakota. I'm from Wisconsin. The water table in WI is such that the best you could do is actually live in a BASEMENT. But many people or live in garden apartments, but like my brother found out, they always leak, sometimes always flood no matter what. Wisconsin is very green and often so rainy in the summer and snows so much in the winter that you'd only have an underground for a cellar for canning products or to store garden produce (as it grows so well there you need a cool place besides the fridge or freezers, or you'd have to have DOZENS of them all running on too much electricity--which is why those of us that had large gardens HAD to can some in jars), basement or tornado shelter as WI gets many tornados as well. In SD where I live now, all houses need sump pumps to pump water out and some even need TWO. You wouldn't want to live in your basement because unless your sump pump runs partly on solar and wind (and the storms are such that they NORMALLY knock out electricity and derechos knock down structures, especially siding and silos), your basement WILL flood as some point or you'll be pumping it out using a pump on a car batter or you'll literally be bailing it out. If your house is old like ours, you will also have an original foundation made of rocks, mortar, dirt and if it got updated, chicken wire, steel beams, mesh and concrete or cement. You'll have BUGS all over you at night esp spiders and fruit flies, and if the holes or inner foundation structures aren't well sealed enough (but there has to be some ventilation underground here and you don't want to find out WHY the hard way) you'll find yourself sleeping with small lizards, mice and even snakes; Thankfully we have a cat that takes care of the rodents. A cat or rodent killing dog is a necessity here, but there isn't an income tax so if you're willing to work your butt you only have to pay the piper on federal and sales tax or if you decide on a really swanky house. Underground here or in WI though? Ain't gonna work. A unique way people are living here is in "Van life". We have them all over because South Dakota is totally friendly to them, so EVERY town, unless it has under 40 inhabitants, has a cheap campground (some even have bathrooms and showers year round but not as cheap as winter pit toilet ones or without ANY) or place for them to park--as long as you're NOT the criminal type or on drugs or alcoholic, trying to sell yourself or buy someone or panhandling too aggressively, then you'll find out how great our law enforcement is here.. So in every town you find Van lifers. One town, though I can't remember the name, let's them park free as long as they don't need electricity, shower, sewer, or water hookup. The electricity hookup is$5 a night. I don't know how much they charge if you need water too or sewer. Many of the trailer parks too allow and even encourage people with RVs to park there for the winter or seasonal summer work, you just have to pay rent and hook yourself up and are advised to rent or buy the under structure barrier they put around more permanent modular homes to cut down on large rodents living underneath or other undesirable wild life like foxes or even I guess they found a coyote mama had her puppies underneath one. The smaller ones often take up residence underneath anyway. One place we lived had a possum family living under the neighbor's mod.
@missusd1130
Жыл бұрын
We also found out that here underground doesn't necessarily means its cooler. Not unless you have a brand new place built differently but last I looked if you buy a house or condo here that's brand new and not under 800 sq ft, you're immediately paying $200,000 plus for your place. We are in an old nearly 3000 sq ft "mini" Victorian that's not in too bad a shape but needs a lot of work, esp. the foundation under the stairways is starting to sag and needs shoring up. It has interior foundation walls and four jacks, but that wasn't enough. They should have replace the original basement walls with concrete block walls and steel supports like all houses in WI circa post 1950 had to be built. Part of the issue is some under spaces were built to be long term storage. I would like better support underneath in the basement and that under storage used as part of the support system because this place has a HUGE attic, HUGE two car garage, enough land to put a big shed on, and a large basement if you would put some things on 3 inch high platforms, esp. canned goods and such that can't be penetrated. We put our freezer on one. At least they had enough sense to put the electrical plugs in the basement high up on the wall instead of nearer the floor so electrical cords and plugs don't end up waterlogged and the washer and dryer were set up in the pantry also to avoid similar problem. You'd wish there was a way to do that with the furnace and water heater! Outside of that, ALL the other problems were and are easy to fix.
I just wonder how they built temples on the cliff of the hills. So fascinating. 😲
