I couldn't tell you how many died that night, but I can tell you that over the course of the first 4 years of the illegal invasion of Iraq, the civilian death toll was over 1 million. That being said, the invasion wasn't by definition a terrorist attack, which requires a political or religious motivation. The invasion of Iraq was about one thing and one thing only: the seizure and control of the world's second largest oil reserve. Read Richard Clarke's _Against All Enemies._ Clarke was Dubya's anti-terrorism advisor. As a soldier who was deployed to Iraq twice, his book was a real eye-opener.

I’m so glad that the judge for the Brock case was fired. That is just so ridiculous to be lenient on somebody like that just because he didn’t want to “ruin his swimming career” or whatever tf the judge said. Just because you’re a promising young athlete doesn’t mean you can go around raping women without penalty. Giving Brock a light sentence only reinforces the notion that if you’re of a certain status you can get away with murder. I hope Brock never escapes the notoriety he’s earned, and that his life is even remotely as damaged as the young woman.

Casey used to drug her daughter to sleep for long hours so she could go out and one night she gave too much. I used to buy pot from a house across the street from her parents house. The couple that sold the pot knew her and used to sell her pot and party together. Everyone was sure she'd get the death penalty. Still cannot believe she is walking free somewhere today. She tried moving to a smaller town in FL that I coincidentally got a job in after I left school. She had moved there and changed her name but was discovered and was berated with people so much she had to move again. I hope she never finds peace in this life. Have a 3 year old daughter now and could never treat her in such a way.

As a non-American, I find it interesting that people make a big fuss over what happened at the Capitol building but not so much over a summer of riots and destruction of buildings and businesses shortly before. I'm not defending rioting at the Capitol, but it seems like selective outrage because of the political ideology of each group. One gets a pass while another has the book thrown at them. I'm not a Trump supporter. I think Biden is the worst and most incompetent president in a long time, but I don't think "the election was stolen". I'm conservative, but I think Qanon is a bit of a joke. I'm not a Democrat. I do however find it interesting that the Democrats were interestingly silent during months of riots, violence, and death when they agreed with the politics of those involved but now think that a riot involving people on the opposite side is the worst thing since 9/11 and everyone in attendance - even those who didnt take part in any violence - should be locked up. To me personally, that guy in the photo above dressed in fur and wearing horns - and the rioters in general - come across less like a serious attempt to "overthrow our democracy" and more like a joke. Do people honestly, truly believe that "American democracy was at stake" and that they people were going to seize control of the country, or are they just hyping it up as something to attack the Republicans with?

I kind of think it might have been worth making several separate lists: one for American Crimes of the Century so far and one for the rest of the world? Yes sure you mentioned some other countries, but it was honestly mostly the United States. With all due respect to the McCann Family, I wouldn’t rank that crime over the horrendous 2011 massacre in Norway, or the death of Casey Anthony over the FIFA Corruption Scale or the 2015 French Terrorist Attacks. I mean there’s a plethora of crimes to choose from, and it’s a subjective list, but a lot of these seem America-focused

Actually the autopsy showed drugs in his system, but that the actual cause of death was his airway being blocked off. By the way, drugs don't just completely leave your system when they wear off. And the officers didn't report that they were restraining him for acting as if he was under the influence. They restrained him because a merchant claimed he used a counterfeit 20 dollar bill, which turned out to not even be counterfeit.
