Great fly. I've had some really good action with that one over the years. A real meat and potatoes fly. Fantastic tutorial - thanks for that one.

CC great tutorial as always, love this big meaty bug!!! On a side note, I had a chance lately to watch some of the older FFM videos of when you tied a “Hare’s Ear”. The multiple cameras and different angles actually showed you applying the dubbing to your tying thread, twisting it on with your material hand and feeding with your tying hand… it was mind blowing how fast and effortless you made this look! The outcome was a masterpiece! I’m certain that most of your follows know you are ambidextrous and how very skilled you can be with both hands, but still, you are like a machine!!! So very impressive! Thank you for all the time you devote to show us these great technics, designs and tying fundamentals. (If there is ever anyone who doesn’t learn from “your” videos, there is simply no hope for them! Lol.)

Would you mind doing a short video on dubbing and the best way to get it to compress and stay on the thread? I sometimes really struggle with it.

If you put a coating of hard as nails on your underbody prior to winding the peacock you will “glue” it and make a stronger body!

Great video as always. What do you use as a guide for your biot tails? The hook gap or is it arbitrary for this fly?

Great fly! Only thing I have to ask is, While using peacock, is there a reason you didn't counter rib it? I would think counter ribbing it would increase it's durability. Thanks for another great tying video Charlie!

What are your thoughts on the new synthetic peacock? Some incredible synthetics out there, is this a place where it might be applicable or is peacock one of those you want natural? Thanks for these lessons!!!

My understanding is that this fly was developed by a guy named Perry Griffin in the Roaring Fork valley. I understand you tied flies for shops there. Did you happen to know Perry?

I do not know Perry but this fly was introduced to me by Drew Reid of Roaring Fork Anglers back in the day.

Yep. You can, of course, use lead substitute if it makes you feel better.
