    Remember to wipe on a thin layer of mineral oil onto tools after cleaning them. This will help prevent rust and corrosion.

    We keep a bucket full of sand in our shed. we have a little bit of vegetable oil mixed through the sand. And we are done with our garden tools we have a scraper to get the clumps of dirt off. We then dig the tool in and out of the oily sand several times, then take a whisk broom to get the sand particles off. Not only does it clean your tools but keeps them oiled at the same time.

    I used the big clear tubs this year (and clear lids) to hold seedlings when weather was questionable. I’d leave them open when it’s nice. Close them if was a bit cold at night. Close them if there was a strong storm. Bring them in when it was freezing. I tried the egg thing some years back. I found them to be too small. Might as well directly sow in the garden if you’re thinking of using that.

    Don't mulch with leaves in the UK, it's a great way to let slugs thrive in our wet climate. Use compost as it doesn't give habitat to slugs and use the leaves to make compost unless you don't have any plants in the bed then you can use leaves to feed the soil over winter and by the time spring comes the leaves will have decomposed.

  • @TheRealHonestInquiry

    @TheRealHonestInquiry

    Compost isn't a mulch because the particles have become so small, it absorbs water and will wick it away from the soil surface, which is the opposite of what a mulch is supposed to do. I'm sure you can get away with it there but trying to use compost as a mulch in say, zone 9b during summer won't work, you need a thick blanket of un-composted organic matter to protect from the elements. I make little mini-ponds from these same spinach containers he uses in the video, to keep around lizards, frogs, small birds, etc. that are all helping to control the slug population

    The greenhouse ideas are good, so are the seedstarting ones. I'll try the rust one too. The cup one at end is kinda silly. I can't imagine that the PVC one doesn't leak at every single connector unless you glue it and it let it dry first...? The grass mulch one, if it's fresh make sure not to put it on too thick or you will create habitat for slugs and it will create anaerobic (no oxygen) soil conditions since it mats.
