Should have mentioned Yashin, as Neuer only expanded what he had done, he made goalkeepers look more like a player and not an obstacle to the strickers

What you should also say is that managers changed more. In the 90s almost every game are just two teams attacking each other with direct balls and tactics not important, therefore football WAS a game only seeing wether which players were better. But Mourinho parked the bus, which means teams need to find ways to break that bus. Weaker teams just copied Mourinho, while Guardiola used Cyruff’s tiki-taka to break it. However, if 1 team control possesion like that the opponent can’t do anything, so he used Rangnick’s pressing tactics to get back possesion. If three of them do not appear football would not been changed and still playing the way the teams in the 90s play.

In my opinion (no offense to any johan cruyff fans) although johan cruyff set the foundation in La Masia names like xavi, iniesta, ronaldinho, ronaldo nazrio, Raul people like these guys changed the way of football the style of play. But I cant lie ronaldo and messi took this game to the next level their rivalry is now sadly gone but will never be forgotten and will be talked about for years and years to come

well Cruyff not only changed football as a Player, he changed football as a Manager. Managers like Pep Guardiola were only possible with Cruyff, Ajax style, and their youth is still inspired by Cruyff. Not forgetting what he did in Barcelona. He changed the way youth teams were trained. If for example, you are a ST in youth and always wanted to be a striker. His philosophy was to also play you as a winger, midfielder etc. So you know and learn to understand football on these position to become the best Striker by knowing what it means to play in midfielder etc. This is something Ajax, Barcelona and many other youth teams still do!

Not really Yashin was actually the first sweeper keeper, he always came out during 1 on 1s and all of that, but people think it was Neuer because many people know Yashin but actually never looked at his style. He was the first Sweeper keeper or at least the first keeper to use that version in major events

Although VAR has turned over the incorrect calls, I do think that the mistakes that the referees made were a part of the game and that made the game more entertaining. Now waiting 5 minutes to see if the goal is good or not just takes valuable time away from the match. That’s just my opinion though
