I find it funny (probably because I’m old), that all these styles that have been around for decades become new trends with new names. That’s not a criticism it’s nice to see and I think it helps a lot with thrifting and repurposing old clothes. They are looks that would be perfectly at home in London as well as NYC 😊

I know, it’s is pretty funny but i suppose the trends always come back around 😅

I think what I like most about the Downtown Girl aesthetic is that it is the one that seems to come closest to the concept of effortless self-expression. Or maybe it just feels that way to me because it's the one that's closest to what I'm already doing. Ha! 😉 I see some folks hating on this style because they feel it's too simplistic or it's not unique enough. I would argue it's the individual who makes every aesthetic unique, not the aesthetics itself.

SAME. It’s very easy to achieve and I’m all for that being an aesthetic ya know? But you are so right, the person makes the aesthetic, the aesthetic doesn’t make the person
