To say “no one wants to buy for even a dollar”? They are not for sale. Most are tourist attractions and not on the market at the time of this video being posted.

Don’t let’s forget that there are not one genuine American castle. They are all fantasy structures. Americans have undeniably built beautiful and truly amazing structures but their, “Castles,” albeit usually pretty, or handsome buildings, are about as realistic as a kid’s wigwam play tent.

Thomas More was executed by Henry XIII in 1535. So, it was his ghost which built Charleville Castle in 1641? Is it his ghost or a later Thomas More? It’s difficult to tell since this documentary shows the portrait of Sir Thomas More by Hans Holbein, the erstwhile portrait painter of the Tudors.

Sure here are all you castles, and by the way here is the potentially very large bill per year to actually own and maintain all twenty of them, which depending on the country and what is required as part of the ownership could potentially be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, or possible even more, depending on just how they are rated by the governments of the country they are in, for property taxes, maintenance fees, and other costs of running and owning them, chances are if something like any of these are going cheap, there is damn good reason nobody has bought them.

Cape of Good Hope Castle is South African government property, and will never go up for sale, not for $1 or billions of dollars. It was NOT built to defend against British troops. It was built by Jan Van Riebeeck, a ships doctor for the Dutch East Indian Company, originally as a halfway house/hospital for the sailors and ships that traveled around the Cape to the East for spices and other goods. They would replenish the ship with fresh vegetables and fruits in Cape Town. And therefore the name "Cape of Good Hope", because before that many sailors would die from malnutrition. The caste does have a dungeon that is very dark and extremely haunted. Jan van Riebeeck became the first Governor of Cape of Good Hope.

I would take any of them. I'd remodel it. Then rent out rooms. Do wedding parties. Fairytale birthday parties. Tea parties. Big hat parties. Hold a Mardi gras festival. Hold banquets for literally everything, sell plates, and donate part to charity. Most probably animal shelters. Have life stock like sheep. Feed and keep swans. Horse and guilded carriage rides. Horse riding. Archery. Then also have a dress code, again to not ruin the experience. All by invitation only, of course. That way it doesn't ruin the charm of experiencing a castle and feeling like roayalty.

Correct. Also, he fails to point out that at my age, (72) they become a prison no matter how pretty they are. Carrying things such as a full night’s logs for a fire up the small defensive stair towers during the Winter becomes the first problem and it ends up leading to trying to actually climb the stairs in order to get yourself to your bed chamber or even to go descend them in order to be able to go outside. I should know, I live in one in Scotland. I’ve known a few castle dwellers that were trapped like that, especially where there were small keystone steps in the turret staircases. Most of them ended up only able to live on the ground floor, (or 1st floor if you come from the USA.)

Bodium Castle never had thick stone walls. No castle bothered to waste fortunes building huge thick stone walls after the beginning of the 14th century as gunpowder had arrived at the very early years of the 14th Century. Whilst they could stand up to arrows and musketry if the locals ever attacked these places. There really is an absurdity to claiming that Bodium would have lasted longer than two or three rounds from gunpowdered artillery. Bodium was an ornamental castle that would have been a useless waste of money and manpower by the time it was built. I must admit that if your historical understanding of defensive medieval strongholds leans largely towards Disney and Hollywood instead of true historical understanding based entirely on facts, then Bodium was constructed for American fantasists. In reality it was built pretty much as an ornamental building of great beauty and exuding financial status, nothing else beyond the fact that it could easily hold out for a while against a mob armed with musketry and bows and arrows. Beyond that, all it would take is one breech loaded artillery piece and its walls would be breach the walls. Essentially, it would have cost an eye-watering fortune to build and about 20 minutes to fall to it’s attackers and having refused to surrender choosing to defend it’s inhabitants who would probably have been hanged naked and mutilated from the walls, unless they had could be imprisoned and ransomed. The rank and fie defendants would have been butchered, traditionally, had it resisted. For the reasons stated there is zero evidence to support that it was ever sieged nor even attacked not even in either of England’s civil wars. There is no evidence in either manuscript or its masonry that it was ever anything but ornamental. The commentary here infers that purchasing it could make someone feel like a Disney princess, presumably just like Meghan Markle appears to think she has become by marrying a highly questionable Prince of The Realm in the British Royal Family. I do not mean to be unfair here, nor anti-American, God forbid. I used to live in Hollywood, California, many years ago. My American wife would have seen all the British monarchy as people trying to emulate Disney fantasy driven pretenders as she was barely literate, despite her mother being a judge in The County of Los Angeles. So, I, “Get it,” that nearly all Americans see the British Royal Family as people pretending to be Disney Kings and Queens living in fake Disney-styled buildings. It’s part of that, “I yield to thee, fayre Laydie,” in an American accented cultural misunderstanding of history which most of them genuinely believe is an accurate and educational understanding of medieval European culture. Hollywood continues to indoctrinate the USA with this end and tends to portray Middle Ages warriors as kneeling on one knee sporting a blown-dry winged hairstyle to a pretty woman with mountains of paint on her face and a large conical hat with a see through viscose veil waving about in the wind whilst an Eddie Van Helen styled American guitarist shreds his Stratocaster in the background to add authenticity and proven research to all this delightful insanity. It never makes me angry, though it is perhaps a just little misleading. Finally, I am now 72. I live in a beautiful 700 year old castle in Scotland with 1500 acres of incredibly private, beautiful and historic land where I intend to see out my days. It is the 3rd castle that I have lived in. It has parts of it that go right back to the early 1300s. A sizeable stone tower right next to where I am writing this text is the oldest part of this castle. It has very thick stone walls which are 100% built to stand up to a Medieval siege engine called a trebuchet which would have had very serious problems attacking it. Trebuchets became redundant by 1330 due to the arrival of gunpowder and hence Bodiam, built over 50 years later did not waste years of building with massive labour costs not to mention hundreds of tons of needless and pointless expense being used to create walls that could not last more than a few minutes if attacked with gunpowder. One artillery piece would smash the walls to bits within minutes. As for such a ridiculous suggestion that England could be saved from an invasion by Bodiam I have only two questions in response to such a statement Firstly, on what planet would this be happening in? Secondly, what drugs are you on, because I want some?
