I’ve lived in Iowa most of my life. Many of the jobs are not in the towns listed, but in a neighboring city especially in the Des Moines area. Prepare for a commute. Overall, you’ll like the state.

I appreciate that information.
Whomever wrote this is a real comedian. Ames. I had 2 uncles who taught at ISU, and Dad retired there. Taxes are sky high, decent homes are too. Sports tickets are extremely expensive, season tickets are ridiculous. The town goes absolutely dead in the summer when the students leave, and there is nothing to do. North Grand Mall is empty. Downtown is fairly nice. Watch where you buy or build, or rhey'll build student apartments-which are also expensive-on top of you. Urbandale. Stay out. It's getting rough. Really stay out of the Drake University area-high crime. Love old houses? Try around Grand Avenue. Stay out of Beaverdale-it floods. Live on the west side. Things to do, less crime, better schools. Pella. Stay out. Overun during Tulip Festival, and it's a closed community, with a very odd religion. If you're not Dutch, from there, or of the religiion, forget it. Careful of eastern lowa river towns-lots of drugs. Stay to the east and northeast over there. Western Iowa. Unless youre near Omaha, and can summer up north at Arnold's Park, forget it. Boring and ugly.
Love Ames! Great schools
Thank You so much
What they call Johnson is actually Iowa City And Cornville is pretty and all But it's right off of I 80 interstate and it has a lot of crime And drugs.
I live in Ames and ain’t NO way it should be on this list! They sweep more under the rug here than we could ever know. Way liberal and taxes suck.
There is a whole part of the state that isn’t near DesMoines or Iowa City.
What about the employment rate, crime rate, local health care, internet speed, drugs, average age, retirement offerings, ...?
Which city in Iowa would have an art community. Art towns? Artists? Where do they live and art galleries?

Mount Vernon actually has An annual get together where they go outside and draw all over the building in the streets.

Try Cedar Falls! They have the College Hill Arts Festival, but keep to the east and northeast parts of the state. Prettiest part of the state, anyway.
What about Madison County and covered bridges
Why did you show the old capitol building in Iowa City for Ames?
Johnston. Get the name right
This video is obsessed with featuring small cities and neighborhoods of Des Moines, while deliberately ignoring Iowa's largest cities, such as Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Sioux City, Waterloo, etc.
Damn all the Iowans are angry at this guy (including me) he messed a lot of things up never let this man cook
Ditch the computer narration and hire a live voiceover artist. The machine reading is unusually bad. "Linden Heights" and "Salisbury Oaks" are neighborhoods in the Grand Avenue area of Des Moines. West Des Moines is the western part of Des Moines. It used to be called Valley Junction. The north-south street numbers duplicate some of those in Des Moines proper. In general, it's apparent that whoever put together this video knows little about Iowa locations and their relation to one another.

Yes, as a foreigner, quite uncomfortable hearing this stiff and machinery voices.

Iowa is a great place to live if you can spend your winters in Arizona or Florida.
