Paper cash out.... Plastic cash in.
I've got 2 £50 paper notes and 1 £20 paper note but I'm housebound and probably can't get someone to deposit them into my bank before end of September 😕 Can you 100% confirm for me please that paper notes can still be transferred into my bank account (Barclays) after 30th September? That would give me peace of mind. Thanks.

Hi Judith. Not to worry, banks and Post offices will still accept them after this date for depositing purposes. The end of September is when businesses will stop accepting them.

@@TheFormFiller thank you. I also called Barclays and they confirmed that's correct. They said they still accept deposits of £1 paper notes from the 80s!

Banks will be able to change them forever, on it's promise. Just can't use them on the streets.
We have still got to have cash - how can you tip otherwise in restaurants and hotels, etc? Can't expect an hotel porter to carry a card machine on him!
