Parents always have these great expectations for the reactions of their older children. Without fail, the actual reactions fall very short. I tried very hard not to have big expectations when bringing home the second (and last) child home, yet the reaction we got was totally unexpected anyway. After a very short time, we were told to take him back. He was broken because he couldn't play catch or even cars & trucks. Our older child was 4 1/2 years old, and no matter how we had prepared the oldest, his expectations were very high. Lol

I bought my Son a gift from his sister 23 years ago and it was such a monumental moment for him and he was almost 5, but he took ownership. Then a gift for each repeating to the summ of 5 children! I am seeing this more and more. Perhaps it’s because RN’s are doing the instructing and parents are listening to wisdom that we RN’s possess 🤓!

Our neighbor's 4yr old daughter was very happy when her mom got home with the baby..the baby was asleep..she hugged and kissed her baby sister..and she's watching her sleeping she said to her mom "she's nice baby doll" then the baby moved..the 4y/o run and cried! ❤ too cute!! My daughter, Layla, was a few months shy of 3yo when I had her baby brother, Cash. Both of my kids were little little, just 5lbs 5oz. Healthy with no issues (thankfully)! When I came home with Cash she was NOT happy. 😬🙄 After a few hours, while dad was feeding Cash, Layla walked over to me and whispered “You know - he’s ok to live here too. He’s little like a bug. And he is quiet too.” To this day, Cash is 15 & Layla is 18, I still call Cash Bug or Buggy. Of course now he is 2” taller than me. And Layla still hasn’t reached 5’!! Also, she was correct - he was a very content quiet little guy then and now!! Congrats on the newest member of your family! 🎉

I bought my Son a gift from his sister 23 years ago and it was such a monumental moment for him and he was almost 5, but he took ownership. Then a gift for each repeating to the summ of 5 children! I am seeing this more and more. Perhaps it’s because RN’s are doing the instructing and parents are listening to wisdom that we RN’s possess 🤓!
That's one big baby for a newborn. My first one was 6lbs 4 oz. Toddlers are great with babies. Very loving and caring.

Our neighbor's 4yr old daughter was very happy when her mom got home with the baby..the baby was asleep..she hugged and kissed her baby sister..and she's watching her sleeping she said to her mom "she's nice baby doll" then the baby moved..the 4y/o run and cried! She got scared bcoz the doll moved! 😆🤣

❤ too cute!! My daughter, Layla, was a few months shy of 3yo when I had her baby brother, Cash. Both of my kids were little little, just 5lbs 5oz. Healthy with no issues (thankfully)! When I came home with Cash she was NOT happy. 😬🙄 After a few hours, while dad was feeding Cash, Layla walked over to me and whispered “You know - he’s ok to live here too. He’s little like a bug. And he is quiet too.” To this day, Cash is 15 & Layla is 18, I still call Cash Bug or Buggy. Of course now he is 2” taller than me. And Layla still hasn’t reached 5’!! Also, she was correct - he was a very content quiet little guy then and now!! Congrats on the newest member of your family! 🎉

You’re totally right, she was exhausted. Her grandparents had just dropped her off and she had been playing hard at their house, didn’t take her afternoon nap, and then got a piece of a nap in the car. She was CRANKY 🤣 but as soon as she realized he was a real baby, she was happy as could be 🤍
