The OG one or the one based on her Arena iteration? Funnily enough, figma of P4 protag has a pair of interlocked Aigis hands to replicate P4AU key art of her suplexing brotag. It works well enough with the original Aigis figma too.

The term Aegis is also used in 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim by Vanillaware , Speaking of Vanillaware I have fallen in love with Unicorn Overload recently and would definitely recommend as well. The tactics is so addicting and the art is as usual outstanding. Love the Made in Abyss t-shirt the illustration is so good. Hope you are doing better.

Aigis from Person 3 Reload is the only figure of Persona I own in my collection, and I was planning on buying Lady Anne nenroid, but since it costs as much as a video game new I never got one@@Food4Dogs.

Very nice! Aigis was my very first figure. In my case it was figma released in 2010. There was also a figure of Metis from the same line released at the same time and a special limited version of armored Aigis from The Answer. Didn’t get neither of them, unfortunately.

Love the Made in Abyss shirt! Both Persona 3 (FES) and Made in Abyss changed my life in really dramatic ways. Persona 3 helped me get through a really tough time earlier in my life and it's always been a very therapeutic game for me, and Kevin Penkin's soundtrack to MiA is the reason I decided to pursue music composition as a career.

The Aigis figure from the P3R CE was my first and only Aigis figure and I had no expectations for the size, so when I got it, it was a bit smaller than I thought it might be but it is a really nice size that matches up well enough with the Figmas so she looks really good next to the Makoto Figma. :)

I only just realized, but her name might actually be a bit of a play on words, where there's definitely the Greek Aegis aspect due to that being Aigis' main Persona, but also there's maybe an AI component in the spelling that's a reference to her being a robot? Regardless I'm glad to see that you're still around and making videos, since I really enjoyed some of your early Atelier ones as well.

It comes down to the poses for me. I like the pop up parade version better

I sat and played Persona 3 at age 16. Ive played all of them and the re-releases multiple times. And having finished playing reload at 32 years of age, I stumbled across your video, it made me tear up a little. I loved this video! I never thought that I'd watch a 20+ minute video about the differences between the two Aigis figures. (As I mentioned to you, I also have both of these.) As always, though, you have made a truly wonderful video that goes into so much more depth than I do, even owning them both. I will never look at them the same way again. I see Mishy back there by Morgana... I don't think I knew you were a Trails fan. My absolute favourite figures are the Kotobukiya kiseki / Trails figures... Emma is coming out this month and she looks breathtaking... I can't wait to get her from AmiAmi. I'm so glad to hear that you were able to secure a P3RE collector's edition as well. I didn't realize that you don't have a PS5 yet! Are you waiting for something specific or is there a scarcity of them in NZ? It was incredibly difficult for me to get mine prior to Soul Hackers 2, which is what motivated me, but since my partner also loves video games and we have both been moving more and more from Switch games to PS5 games, it became clear that we needed two so that we wouldn't be treading on each other's toes. We are moving about 8000 km in May, and I am so worried about my video game collection and figures! The Trails figures run from about $110 - $250 each, and they are the most prized part of my video game / video game merchandise collection. Anyways, it is always good to kick back in the evening and see a new video from you to relax and enjoy. Thank you for sharing your detailed and wonderful perspectives and thoughts... you are by far in the upper echelon of KZread gamer content creators. I did some big unboxing video years ago for the Trails of Cold Steel games. I have only 2 Trails figures: Rean Schwarzer and Altina. I still don't have a PS5 ... for a whole bunch of reasons. Some I outlined in my video when I acquired my XBOX Series S. I've been managing to get by with my PS4Pro, but it is obviously now getting more difficult. There is no stock scarcity of PS5s in NZ. Yea ... big headache, moving such a distance and having everything packed super protectively. I can only think that the important factor will be insurance. In my experience, whatever moving companies says, their default insurance does not cut the mustard.

@@Food4DogsI'll have to go back and check out your Trails unboxing videos... they thankfully did a re-release of Altina, so now I have them all. I'm also a big ATLUS fan (like I get the impression that you are), but I'm rather burnt out on Persona, since they've done little else than release Persona spinoffs and remakes / ports of Persona for awhile now. I do love the franchise, but the games are a bit long at times and I really miss other ATLUS franchises like Etrian Odyssey. I'm extremely excited about Metaphor ReFantazio, though, and the Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance expansions. Thank you for the tip on moving... I have heard nightmare stories about moving companies and how they only cover pennies per pound through the default insurance... I'll be sure to get any further insurance that I can secure. I still have all the original boxes for my figures, so I think I'll pack them in there in plastic totes and hope for the best. I had never played a Trails game up until early 2023, but my friend (who knows my tastes better than I do) recommended the series to me and now I am hooked... Falcom has replaced ATLUS as my favourite JRPG company. I'll go check out your videos of the figure unboxing and for your XBOX Series S! @@vorpal22 Yes, I am a big Atlus fan - it's really easy to see across my videos. But yes, Falcom is my other big love. As evidenced by my playthrough of an older Ys game, which I do for the pure love of it despite the hammering the algorithm gives me for it! 😄

I was too concerned about the figure size and quality to get the collectors edition as well 😅 it was just too hard to tell from the pictures. Looking at it now… I do regret not purchasing it, the whole collection, I mean, not just the figure. Thought if you told me that it was available right now and told me the price again I might still not get it 😂

It's a tough borderline call on this one for sure.

The generic/sometimes creepy nature of the faces on the Star Trek figures I used to collect, made me stop collecting them and switch to only the ship models. With anime figures, it's not as bad but the amount of McCoy's I have that look like a horror movie version of DeForest Kelley is staggering. 😆 I stopped collecting outside the 5 franchises I love the most but these Aigis figures look really nice...😅

I think it's very sensible to stick to just a number of franchises you're really invested in. Otherwise figure collecting can really get out of hand! 😄

Fun fact: the Limited Edition Reload version of Aigis figure is actually a re-release of the same figure from many years ago (I think to coincide with the movie releases), but this time with updated armband design to match the remake game. Because I remember seeing the same figure with the original cloth-like armband, whereas in Reload it's been changed to more of a shoulder pauldron.

Hmm, that's interesting. I wouldn't mind researching that - but it's really hard to find details online. Do you have any reference point? In a way, it would make perfect sense - as I try to point out in my video, her design struck me as very much in line with the style of the older game and also anime movies (which we just finished watching).

I just now had a look on eBay for older Aigis figures - there are plenty, by Kotobukiya and others, and figmas galore ... but I couldn't see any that looked like the Aigis from the Reload CE.

But long story short: I saw the same identical figure on Mercari Japan via Neokyo (a proxy buyer with a bunch of fees and rather complicated buying system, yet has the lowest rates and frequent promos). Everything was the same down to the pose, except the base was black, and of course had the old armband. No box was in the listing so I have no idea which manufacterer made it. Looks like it's long gone now though, since I can't find it again. For general info on figures, I often use myfigurecollection (one word) to see detailed info and organize my collection. It's user-submitted entries and thus has a lot of holes so it's not comprehensive, unfortunately. I saw the Aigis figure by chance while searching for the Reload version second hand, and didn't buy it because the Reload version was cheaper, plus it looked better in my opinion. Some other sites I recommend if you want to search beyond eBay, would be Mercari, Surugaya, Rakuten Rakuma, and for older out of print merch: Mandarake. Hope that helps 🙂

I ordered the CE and had very little expectations of the figure (I expected cake decor at best). Was blown away and impressed by the quality. Now if only they didn't pack the SEA copies with a Chinese disc by accident...

@@Food4Dogs yea but fortunately they sent me a download code for the English version of the game. Took some days though since Atlus apparently received a lot of spoof requests for the code. Honestly would not have been an issue if not for Atlus's iffy localization setup. SG is the only one that gets English whereas HK gets only Chinese and Korean. Bandai Namco does the same thing and I've had a lot of pain dealing with buying DLC considering my PS shop was setup on the HK region. R3-Asia is a very confusing region treated as one but is divided into 2 (TW/HK/SK[Chinese], SG/SEA[English]). Other publishers have had no problems having English available on both regions so I don't really know why they just can't follow suit.

Yes, it is a MiA shirt. I've played the game a little - really need to go back for more before I can say much. It looks and feels like a typical Japanese game made on a restricted budget, on a slightly older game engine. Know what I mean? There seem to be heaps of this type produced in Japan, often based on an IP from anime etc. I'll try and fit in playing a bit more. I think I have some early footage, so maybe I can include that in a future video.

Love Persona 3 reload

I am also one of the doubters of buying the collectors edition. The more pics I've seen the more I doubt. But just like you I will also deeply regret not buying it cuz I love og persona 3 and I would WANT to own a physical edition of persona 3 in some form. Once I own it I was deeply satisfied. Pics online doesn't do justice how detailed she actually looks. I don't think she's better than pop up parade but if you played the original, she looks accurate to her original art. My only wish she was in scale with the new P3MC figure from artfx j

That's OK 😄 it was just kinda funny bc I'm known for my love of all things Persona. Mind you, I've never done a video about P4G specifically.

Your pronunciation of her name is actually completely correct. It is "Ai-giss", not "ee-giss" or "aye-jiss" or "ai-jiss" or whatever else. It's spelt **Ai**gis for a pretty obvious reason. It is a combination of "Ai" (Artificial Intelligence) and "Aegis" like the shield you talked about. A robot built to protect. So "Ai-giss" would be the correct pronunciation for this reason. Also because that's how it's pronounced in game lol. It really shouldn't be a point of contention when there are so many concrete and referable answers to the question. But I assume the segment was more-so meant as a disclaimer for those who would for some reason be upset at you for your pronunciation being objectively correct... Where else but the Persona fandom lol

Yep, you saw that right about the pronunciation discussion. 😎 I even saw one article stating that current academic discourse about Greek language/culture now prefers the aigis pronunciation as the one assumed to be closest to ancient Greek.

At 1:02 you mention that you don't think Aigis has a "canon" pronounciation. In the games (at least in p3r) and movies her name is always said with a "hard" g. Would this not constitute a canon pronounciation, or is her name said differently in other languages or medias?

It's a tough question 😀 - I did research it, but there's only so much time etc. Usually, when there is a definitive canon name or pronunciation for a character, it will be listed in relevant info material (fan sites etc.). But I couldn't see any such reference. The problem with making a video is that I have to make allowance for sometimes making (unintended ofc) mistakes. Basically, I was saying: I'm not 100% sure but I think this is the best/closest we have. There is also the question of pronunciation in original Japanese voice acting and what *may* be different in Western versions if there is an English dub pronunciation that differs. I would need to go back to P3P and FES to check all that - it's a time question, really. I haven't got to August and Aigis yet in P3R, but you confirm that the pronunciation is indeed "Ai-gis". Not just the hard "g" but also the "ai" at the front (not "ae" pronounced as "ee-djis").

Ah .. a lot of young people say that - but it's much better if by the time you get old you are simply, uniquely YOU. That's who you want to be once you're old. You won't be "just like me" (that's impossible anyway 😄) - you'll be different (I hope!), the one and only Nenilein. 🩷

I don't buy figures but they both look nice. My main problem or rather confusion is why Aigis is so prominent in the game. She is a robot. Are people really that much into Robots? I hope you keep enjoying both of your figurines. Hopefully Episode Aigis turns out well. Makoto is occupied with carpentry classes. He really wanted to go. I wonder if they will ever announce Persona 6 one day. Only time will tell, I guess.

Hi Nikita, hopefully you've seen the replies from 2 other commenters; I think they point out the main features that make Aigis attractive to players. And yes - I come across a lot of people who are very much into robots and mecha! 😀 Japanese media have for a very long time now been at the forefront of exploring that troublesome question of where is the point when a robot is not simply a robot and takes on humanoid mental attributes? It's forever fascinating and movies continue to explore this theme. Yes, we will see the Persona 6 announcement one day! 😎
