You’re not supposed to tbh. Water resistance is not the same as water proof...it’s for small amounts of water in case of an accidental spill or drop

In the 1970's my parents had one phone in the house that was screwed to the wall, with four other neighbors on the party line, and you either had a neighbor listening into your phone call, or had to wait for someone else to get the hell off the line to use the phone. What a change in forty five years. I can't remember the last time I actually wrote a letter, and mailed it to someone since using this new technology of being able to send an email from my desktop (Windows XP) computer.

It scans the shape of ur head, not features as like the eye color.. thats why you cant unlock it with closed eyes because when ur eyes are closed its a different shape and the face id recognizes you only with open eyes, since when you set it up, you do it with eyes opened

I actually love Face ID. It works perfectly every time and takes about 1-2 seconds to work. The only thing I don't like about the X, is when I am holding my phone, I can't rest my fingers on the top or bottom of the screen as I used to do that with my old phone.

the reason why a mirror works is cuz the sensors that scan your face are bouncing off the mirror and are still scanning your face, its like you shine a laser pointer at a mirror, its still gonna hit the subject its pointed at in the mirror

The reflection unlock works because since the IPhone projects these IR dots on your face, using a mirror *will* deflect these dots since they are light and the dots can deflect on your face and recognize you.

Well that makes sense with the mirror, the rays reflect and still scan your face in 3D, so it works.

Quick fact:Apple officially announced that incase iPhone X is 10th anniversary phone this is not finished product at all so its going to “evolve” within future software updates like it will have features that it does not have rn and so on. THATS EXITING !!

I think Face ID works in the mirror because the sensor projects the dots to the mirror and then the mirror reflects them into your face and back.

What case do you use 📱

my theory with the mirror is that, the IR dots measure distance and depth between landmark features on your face. a mirror maintains depth since the IR blaster beams reflects off it.

anyone with iphone x, you dont need to pause half way up the screen to delete apps if you slide up and sideways it will open it up then, but you still have to touch again to get the red delete active

Weird, how would it get a depth map of your face from the mirror? Or are the projected dots reflecting onto your face and then the sensor sees those in the reflection?

Yeah that's what I was getting at, if you angle it so the dots still reflect off the mirror and hit your face, they'd be visible to the sensor in the mirror on your reflected face as well. I'm guessing that's it.

So, what I said in both comments above, "duh".

I dont think you have to swipe up and hold. Try swipe up and swipe right, should be much faster this way to bring up other apps.

Ive been watching ijustine for years, and i think this is one of the best "reviews" shes done in a long time.

I never realised the silver iphone X looked so good..

I love my iPhone X but it does have a lot of glitches that need to be fixed! ☺️ Edit: When I unlock my phone with the passcode it appears to be shutting down/dying, black screen with spinner in the middle but after a few seconds it unlocks. I hate the notch. I would like a bigger size phone. I used the FaceID but felt creeped out that it was pretty much “watching” me! LOVE the cameras, the selfie cam is awesome! A lot of apps need to update I think, or maybe it’s a another iPhone X glitch. They crash and/or don’t have the right aspect ratio, it’s weird. Haven’t tried wireless charging yet but I want to! Holding out for the AirPower I think it’s called, the mat that can charge your Apple Watch, AirPods & iPhone at the same time as I have all 3.

of course it works in a mirror. what do mirrors do? they reflect light, so when the infrared scanner lights to search for your face, the light bounces off the mirror onto you.

I got my iPhone X before they released the iPhone Xs because I really needed a phone, was coming from an iPhone 6s plus. I love mob iPhone X, it took me a couple of hours to figure out the gestures and I enjoy playing with the camera. People have said why couldn't I have waited but with the outrageous price point of the new phones. It works for me, I enjoy my iPhone X.

the reason it works in the mirror is because the infrared is bouncing off the mirror to your face back to the mirror being picked by your phone. since it is infrared the many infrared dots take different amounts of time to hit the different parts of your face and back to the phone, creating the 3d map of your face. since the mirror reflects light with out much distortion the phone still works in a normal mirror but not a image or a reflection of an image.

When she was talking about the zombie makeup and it showed a clip i was like “wow he did an amazing job with the blood and the chin!” It was sooooo cool

GENILTON TEIXEIRA Probably spigen. You can get a kind of protective clear case, very protective fashionable case, or ultra protective black case blocking the apple logo.

The reflection works because the sensors the phone sends out bounce off of the mirror and back to your face which allows it to work.

Hey Justine. I’m not sure if you know but you don’t have to swipe up and hold to see your apps. For a quicker way to do it, swipe up and swipe right in one fluid motion. From there you still have to tap and hold to delete the apps but it still takes away those couple extra seconds for sure. I’m loving my iPhone X. Hope you are still enjoying yours!

tifah boyd I don't think you understand how face ID works. It should only work with a 3 dimensional surface such as a face because it uses a infrared point system. A mirror is only a two dimensional surface

With the Touch ID you still had the chance to put the pin in order to unlock your iPhone. Is it still possible with Face ID? I mean, if I wore sunglasses one day and wanted to unlock my phone without using the Face ID feature...is it still possible or not?
