This was really interesting. The cost of groceries here in the UK is ridiculous at the moment. Things that used to cost 99p are now £1.50 which is a big jump if you add it to multiple items. I’m going to try & track our food shop more closely to see if I can reduce it. Also I have never heard of a red kiwi! 😂

I have 3 boys ages 16, 12, and 5, so we are a family of 5. I do go to the large box stores like Costco and Sam’s and buy in bulk, but I totally get not wanting to do that for storage purposes. I noticed you had cat litter on your shopping list and had to let you know about the ‘litter kwitter’ that trains cats to use the human toilet. Save a fortune in litter plus less cleaning, no litter tray, no more hauling around litter. They’re often listed on Facebook marketplace because once your cat has learnt to use the loo you won’t need it anymore. I used to live in a 3rd floor flat with a cat with diabetes and teacher him to use the loo was so helpful as I used to buy the largest bag of paper litter and carry it home plus walking a bag of the used stuff to the bins 3 times a week was often exhausting as I had/have chronic fatigue. Love the channel, can you show us how to make ‘ears’ please!

It is always fun to see what people buy for their meals or what their plans are. You get so much fruit. Two of us are allergic to fruits in our home and so therefore we failed to really get them for our kids. . .one used to like it a lot. Been having my baby try some though so he won't be like us haha. I budget $300 bi-weekly for groceries and try my hardest to stick to it! Sometimes our Costco trips takes us over a little and that’s ok since it also includes household products. I love watching grocery shopping and budgeting videos! My cat loves the temptations treats too ❤

❤ this video! I am in Melbourne and I always thank my lucky stars that we have the Aldi Supermarket chain here. Everything is só expensive in Australia but even more so in New Zealand! We have steak, airfryer fries and a big salad every Saturday. I grew up with that as a child and my family loves it too.

Great video! We live in Scotland so it was great to see the groceries you buy in NZ. We're a family of five and spend about £130 a week on food which I find hard to stick to 😂

You've don a great job👌 little tip about smelly washmachine😂 I put a little bit vinagar in the soapdraw with each wash and tgat helps a lot. It softens the cloths and it takes xare of soapresedue's thats the reason of a smelly machine

A great video, Bayley! I have always enjoyed watching your meal planning, grocery shop videos… along with your other ones! So glad you are doing more minimalism, cleaning content again too. We live in NZ with three children (2, 5 & 7) I aim for $600 a fortnight but since I am slack at budgeting I often spend $700-800. We also still have one in nappies.

Love all your videos! Hoping for the day you may be up for shipping a project bag to the US 😊. I converted our grocery& household budget from US dollars and for a family of 5 - 3 kids (2 teenage boys) we spend about 600 NZD every two weeks. But in fairness I buy a bulk of our meat a couple times a year. So I’d probably add another 166 NZD a month for that to be honest. So about 783 NZD every 2 weeks.

Cool to see how you use up your grocery budget. We usally have a $350 fortnight budget, 2 adults and 2 young kids. But i use an aweosme local butcher and fruit and veg stores, which make it cheaper. And pak n save. I live Nelson/Tasman area :)

Hi Bailey, food is really increased in price in the UK as well but after watching your last video I’ve committed to writing everything down this month. We were spending way too much and I think we are wasting money doing extra shopsI’m being more careful only to buy what we need if I have to do a top up shop having said that both my children are off school this week for school holidays. I shopped on Wednesday and there is barely any fruit left so that definitely needs topping up . I have two teenagers so it’s like having four adults in the house. I have the reduced the amount of meat we eat because it’s so expensive and my daughter and I are now vegetarian.

Great video, food must be dearer in NZ than in australia. I spend $350 per week on family 5 plus cat and dog. It includes all meals, pet food and any household needs.

I'm in CHCH and we eat quite differently to you guys. We have food allergies (gluten and dairy) and I can't eat like normal people can... which boils down to we go through a lot more meat for example and eat organic wherever possible. However your video made me feel so normal!! Price wise, we spend on average $350 per week, sometimes a lot less if I can get things on sale/buy in bulk cook in batches and freeze ect.. (I coincidentally decided to start tracking spends last month) If we went through less GF bread and i could eat like a normal person I think we would probably come in around your amount. When i saw how much you spent on milk and cheese - i thought well theres just big ticket items, no matter what you mostly eat! If its healthy and you can afford it, then great! I do lots of leftovers too.. plus make our own bread wherever I can. We don't have the easy junk meals because they all have stuff that makes my daughter and partner feel sick. So maybe thats where we come out pretty good too...

Well done! I imagine filming all of this and keeping track so carefully was a lot of work. I’m curious if the trash bag purchase also covers the cost for the service of trash pickup. Was it $3.89 for just one bag? I’m so curious about how everyday things work in other parts of the world.

Wow the garbage bag you buy at the store is interesting! So we pay about $42 each month for the garbage truck to come twice a week and pick up our big can. We can fit maybe 3 bags in our can but don’t usually fill it up that much. We also put in branches and things from my husband cleaning up the yard in there. We go through a lot of garbage but it’s interesting how in NZ you have to buy a bag! How many bags do you fill up per week? Just one?

Yes it’s an odd system and we used to pay monthly for a garbage pick up too. We usually just use one bag. Our recycling is picked up by the local council at no extra cost so we recycle everything we can 😊

Just popping in to say we have the same fridge, just in red 😅

Also the warehouse has weetbix for $6 for the biggest box. We go through a box a week 😂

This was great! I’m curious if organic food is more expensive in New Zealand? We buy mostly organic food in the states and it is so expensive. Cutting out extras helps but sometimes the treats are nice 😉 Does New Zealand import a lot of food or is the country mainly self sufficient?

Hi, yes organic is much more expensive here. We are self sufficient when it comes to meat, dairy and produce but we do import a lot of other foods 😊

High grade just means more protein in flour .. so anything labeled bread flour etc

Really interesting video - I particularly like the two week menu rotation. I live in Hawaii, and food is horribly expensive here, too-it is just the two of us and I find I spend US 300 per 2 weeks. And I agree, for some things I am brand loyal and other things, not at all. I shop at Costco and farmer's markets also -do you have these in NZ?

Hi, we have farmers markets and a Costco just opened up in Auckland which is about 6 hrs away. I’m sure more costco’s will open throughout New Zealand now. 😊

You have to buy a special bag to have trash collected? Wow, I hope that idea doesn't get around the world. Our property taxes include trash pick up for now. It used to include 2 times a week pick up and then a failed attempt at recycling...and then they only gave us back one day pickup and no recycling.

They take sandwiches/wraps, fruit, popcorn or crackers and I always have homemade baking to add as well. 😊

bailey i love you but you do crack me up. the anchor brand/meadow fresh and pams/homebrand/value are the same milk in the same bottle with a different label. anyone who has worked for the big companies e.g goodman fielder (meadow fresh brand) will tell you the same. sure the calci trim etc have different additives but blue top is blue top. you would not be able to tell the difference if you and mike set up a double blind taste test. actually that could be your next video.

There is nothing wrong with staying home while kids go to school. She works at home. Have you seen how clean and organized is her house? It is not like she is sitting in front of tv all day

Hi, my plan is to stay home. Mike has a great job that he loves and he works really hard to support our family. I support him by taking on most of the responsibilities at home so he can concentrate on his career without worrying about kids being sick or on school break, grocery shopping, budgeting and meal planning etc. It’s a great partnership that works well for us. I don’t have a crystal ball so don’t know what will happen in the future with but I do have degree that I could use if I needed to re enter the workforce 😊

I have thought about trying to keep track off stuff like this for a video but as soon as I get home the kids rush out and pack everything away so quickly and I’m usually wrecked 😆 I think we spend about $300-$400 a week for our family of 13. 🫣
