For reference they need to carry bull hooks. Its law. Its for the safety of the zookeepers or any trainer that comes into contact with them. Theres a very good chance they may never use them, they are just there as a safety precaution. It's like a cop carrying mace or a taser, they may not need to use them, but are there in the unlikely event they need to.

These elephants seem very happy. I do see bullhooks and lack of grazing land but you can tell that this zoo cares for it's elephants. Keep up the good work Whipsnade Zoo

A good zoo does not allow keepers to enter the same space as the elephants. There must always be a strong barrier between the two

No, but clearly you're lacking manners and are intellectually impaired. The elepahnts were asked to roll on their sides so that the dust and dirt could be brushed off their backs. If you think that's performing then you are ignorant.

wow these are very bless elephants to have this place, and this kind of care, with love to go with the care. wow i am glad there are people in this world with a heart and knowledge my hope is to one day visit a place like this. this is just amazing. GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR HEART, LOVE AND ABILITY TO OFFER THIS TO JUST ONE OF GODS CREATIONS

The elephants at Whipsnade all live together until the young males become trouble and have to be moved on but that's years and years off.

I hate the hooks the handlers carry!!!

they are training with bull hooks, not good!

I don’t like they hold the stick around the elephants and I don’t like one guy push the baby elephant 🐘! I love elephants! They should live in wild instead of the zoo!

Quit using the hooks on them, how would you like a hook in your nose?? They should be free not in a prison.
