2 ways to tie a horse to trailer

• Haefliger’s Hitch -
I use this quick release knot a lot especially at the trailhead when I’m tying to the trailer. I also use it when packing to connect multiple pack animals.
• Bank Robber / John Wayne Knot -
This 3 bite knot lets it release easily under pressure. Also known as highwayman's hitch, this quick release knot was used for quick getaways by bank robbers and other gangsters. One tug of the rope and the horse is free.

as soon as I started following the rope, the camera changed and I lost it, then the same thing happened later and I gave up
I have just acquired my first mule, and I am getting ready to bring her home. What kind of halter would be best to use on a mule in a trailer?

so to make this clear, this second knot that was simple enough to pull off (even for me) - is this also secure if the horse pulls on it?

The second knot ( What I call the Haefligers Hitch) is very secure. The harder a critters pulls the harder the knot locks down, which can also be a bad thing if you have a beast with a tendency to pull back.

My guy likes to pull at the rope with his teeth. With these knots is he likely to undo one or the other more?

Great question. You can tuck the lead into the last loop. It may help bit.
