$2 WALMART PLACEMAT INTO A HAT 【DIY Vlog】Making of a Bowler Style Hat From a Placemat
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Inspired by Lu-Ann Skagg’s KZread tutorial, I made my version of a placemat hat, using a place mat I purchased from Walmart. This was my first time trying to make a spiral-style hat, and it wasn’t easy…but I’m glad I tried. I also added cat ears to my hat just for fun :)

still holding up after 2 years… 20-something more years to go…? 😂
You can't beat chainstitching for easy disassembly. A friend has an antique chainstitch sewing machine made for sewing hats from braid like this.

I’m on the hunt for a chain stitch machine… I envy your friend😭 Right now I’m working on a new video with this technique and undoing stitches is making me cry😂
I think you did a fantastic job! Thank you for sharing and not editing out your mistakes, as we too can learn from them.

Thank you so much for your comment! I’m hoping my mistakes could benefit others :)
Oh thats so cute! I recieved 4 placemats today and I love this shape but I will put some thought into it because it looked quite difficult or is that just me? I will start unravelling one and see.

there was definitely a learning curve but this is my first hat of this kind and it turned out okay! my advice would be to check the shape often :)
This is so cute. I'm working on my first and it's so bad. My brim wont, welll... brim out. It's turning into a bucket. What am I doing wrong?

it was difficult for me and took me quite some time to get a hang of it too! Did you flip the hat inside out when you finished the crown part?
