I live in Southern California and riding and racing motocross through those yrs were a blast, me & all my friends always wanted to be Brad Lackey, growing up we all had posters of Brad Lackey on his CZ and Husky, Rodger DeCoster, Joel Robert on their Suzuki’s, Jim Pomeroy on his Bultaco, Bengt Aberg & Heikki Mikkola on Husky’s and Ake Jonson on that beast Maico, I remember watching all the greats race here in So. You have control of your motorcycle with a big load on it or another person. but when your feet , you can't touch the ground! you lose stability!!it's ridiculous. And then you get hurt. yes I couldn't afford a bike when I was very young and had to go and work half the summer in order to buy my first bike which was a Bridgestone it was very old, I bought it from a dealer and of course I was an adventure living in rural Wisconsin. I had all those old abandoned Farms to explore. But the bike failed me after I laid it down coming into the driveway of the farm too fast because I drink too many beers :-) which was nothing new for me growing up! but I had a very important hot date at about 17 years old and I could not fulfill that date! my bike would not run anymore and she was a cute well-built polish girl

I earned an AMA Expert License in 125cc Motocross when I was a 17 year old H.S. kid in Florida in '74 and was ranked as high as 5th in the state in 125cc expert. I was a yamaha guy so my scooter was a YZ 125. The Elsinores were very good bikes though. My Dad was my mechanic and he was an Aerospace Engineer out at Cape Canaveral. interestingly he said the down swept expansion chambers made better H.P. so starting on my YZ100 and then the YZ125 he designed and fabricated down swept expansion chambers like the Elsinores had. I had a blast riding and racing bikes as a kid but when I got to my Sr. year in HS I hung up the racing boots and really concentrated on academics as I knew I was headed to Engineering College after graduation. I won lots of trophies and some decent paychecks in the Expert/Pro class but my chief claim to fame when I am talking to old dirt bike riders is that I raced future 5 time Motocross World Champion Jeff Ward twice when we were both teens and beat him both times (100cc motocross).

A blast from the past. I raced a 1974 Yamaha 125 MX in 1975 and then upgraded to a 1975 YZ 125 monoshock for the 1976 season. In 1979 I raced a Yamaha 400 YZ. There is no better aroma than the exhaust of a 2 stroke engine burning Klotz oil.
Nothing better than seeing all the old cool bikes👍🏻thanks ✌️🇺🇸

Great comment, I’m 65 and I too grew up in that era, the late 60’s, the early to mid 70’s were my favorite yrs. Cal. At Saddleback raceway and at the famed Carlsbad racetrack, fond great memories in deed, cheers 🍻 to ya! 😎🇺🇸✌️
Very cool! I grew up on a 1973 Yamaha enduro, my first taste of true freedom as a hillbilly kid in the middle of nowhere 👍
Major respect to all of those guys who've kept these beautiful machines looking and running so good! These are the bikes that paved the way for what's being raced by the pro's now, and they all deserve a little love.
Oh my God thank you so much chaplain Ken. Senior. To see these machines ready to race oh my God awesome job. I know it take forever and a lot of guys wouldn't want you to do it go through the pit before they get ready to hit the gate and get like five minutes from every one of the guys. Telling what's going on with the. . You definitely found your Nirvana you have the museum and. Now you have KZread as a platform to really send it. Loyal subscriber love the old bikes. . The CCM museum you went to was amazing. I hear they're trying to open up a shop in the States you should be a dealer you would be the perfect guy for that
Three cheers for the riders who are older than their bikes!

Sorry to comment so much, but I remember back in the late 70’s, then 80’s the 2 stroke Kawasaki’s, Honda’s, Yammaha’s and Susuki’s in the upper Northern States of the US. I always rode a Kawasaki. My first bike at 16yrs old was a Kawasaki KX 80. It was a tank compared to today’s bikes but I loved it👍

Holy shit. Nobody's heard that kinda noise in years! That's priceless!
Reminds me of back in the 70's racing my '73 Husqvarna 250. This man is hauling on his Husky. Great riding. The clutch dragged so bad on mine once you put it into gear, you could not get it back out of gear without killing the engine first. You didn't have long once in gear before the dragging clutch heated up and you could no longer hold the bike back. It really was awful when the starter gave the signal you were about to go, you put it into gear and then he changes his mind and expects you to wait.
