I had gotten back my 98 rm250 after it was stolen. It was missing for 12yrs. Got it back as a basket case. I've been slowly rebuilding it for 3 yrs now. It actually took me 3 yrs to find a new expansion chamber for the bike.
Nothing beats the feeling of hearing the motor run and going threw the gears after having cases split I been rebuilding motor for 30yrs and even tho u don't question ur work if u know what ur doing there is always still margin for error with all the little parts completing a engine especially the transmissions

Most of the time I don't even take the transmission apart I just take aluminum foil and cover it and tape it up and keep it all together and just replace the crank in the seals
Such a beautiful bike. When I do any kind of sticker applying I always get a heat gun or a hair dryer to heat up the sticky surface. So when it’s put down and it gets cold it will stick to those plastics forever.
Great video! Thank you! Y'all really bring us viewers some really good stuff, thanks again.
Wow is all I can say! What a incredible build and just awesome seeing those older two strokes come alive. Did a heck a job on this build.
Outstanding Work!! This is what I should be doing. I have the skills. I have a ton of tools. I’ve worked on a ton of bikes. But I’ve never done a complete build. I really don’t have the scratch to spare. No matter. You guys did a fantastic job. These are the bikes from my generation. The Golden Age of MX/SX.

Love to hear it!
Doing this all yourself, it doesn't actually need a ton of money thrown at it. Sticking with stock parts, cleaning up stuff up, painting or cerakoting yourself you'd be around 3k US all in. He definitely spent a bit more upgrading it, didn't do everything himself, and the wheels and tank probably cost a fair bit. Definitely a nice bike, clearly did a good job choosing what parts to spend money on and what parts to clean up and save money on. A lot of guys blow 20k on restorations and end up with bikes that are worse than the guys who spent time cleaning things up to save money for upgrades,
And I am a certified Suzuki and Honda mechanic! I have done this more than a few times!
Looks like a bike Ronnie Tichnor , Guy Gooper or Buddy Antunez would be out ripping around on back in the day. Awesome. Brings back some memories for sure!

I grew up with bikes like that but they all looked like yours at the start, what I’d give for something like that now, WOW!! Great work man 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Those magnesium flywheel cover on these bikes all have taking there beating . Glad I’m not the only one who’s had to repair one lol

How’d you repair it, I have this problem on my 92’
All of the older bikes are built like a tank. I know some people who have snapped cases and frames and everything. But I haven’t heard of much of that especially from the older bikes
Who ever spent 20k on that bike needs some serious life lessons. Love watching the channel and I know you know that but the guys crazy. When it’s a dream bike it’s more like a factory bike that you could never get your hands on in that case it would be fine but to get the frame done get the whole bike vapour blasted and not to many after market parts it’s crazy

That tool you mentioned is the install tool for rivet nuts. Handy but you can get by in a pinch with a bolt and two nuts to press them in!
Absolutely beautiful! I wish I could here it scream on pipe a few times!
This work is just a masterpiece
This guy has my dream garage (even without the bikes)
I loved watching this build. The bike looks beautiful. I raced one in 1989 and it brings back memories. During lockdown in 2020, my son and I did a frame off on a 1991 RM125. It was his senior year of High School and it was his graduation present. These bikes were very competitive wining MXGP Championships with Donnie Schmitt and Stephan Everts. They were also extremely successful in Supercross and also US Nationals with Guy Cooper winning the 1991 title.

Time to go racing!
I enjoy watching this video..thanks.
Dang shes a beauty! Id like to see the tip of that seat softened to match the metal tank as it peaks over, but geez what a nice job!
I use to uncrate those bikes New, I believe they had a sticker on them "Slingshot" for the case reed induction. it was my job to set them up and get em running. I worked at a place called Inland Empire Suzuki, Kawasaki as a service tech back in the day. Brings back memories. You guys did beautiful job.

2 strokes are art, too bad CA hates everything. This is art nonetheless, an updated RM-125 that came out lovely.
Absolutely awesome video!!
Awesome bike!
I had one from brand-new as a kid. Great bike for races with awesome handling, great suspension and a fun engine.
That thing is just screamin at least take me for a rip down the road ✊
One heck of a build. I love this video😉
Mitaka clutch basket I think , really good for a low price
Great looking build love it ❤❤❤
Absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for posting Dirt Bike TV.
I had the 89 rmx version of this I miss it 😢
some cases like the 92 - 01 cr250 cases actually have spots for a screwdriver to pry the cases apart. Mine were so stuck though I ended up using a case splitter and a c clamp to pop the tight side out
Nice i have a 1996 250cc in need of engine parts im hoping to fine the right stuff for it.
Amazing
Very very very good job👏👍✌️
The tool is a rivnut tool. They also use them in the aviation industry.
Nice build
Holy cow that's awesome, I'd love to do that on the same vintage RMX 250
SIC vid!! I was feel'n it the whole 42:56. it "moved me" THANK YOU GUYS! I been gear head ever since dad asking for wrench, and I hand him a screwdriver🤣c'mon Im' not only one.. 14yr was my first case split.. . replaced shifting forks. Hearing that first smooth Clk'Clik of gear shift was stimulating. You remember your fist; excitment, angziety, your head turns to jelly.. Then RIIIINNNG ! That clean, crisp snap was totally ORGASMIC!! I said all that to say this; FOR GOD's SAKE.. G E T A M A N U A L !!! research research research ; not by mags, , buddies who "know a guy" is a death sentance he will use a sledge hammer case splitter and bore the nik' cylinder. Talk to the racers - PRO -A-B-C .. what's good for pro could get a B racer..killed. if that make's any sense.. MUCH ✌❤🙏 FROM POLAND> GOD BLESS

Great job!
First off, I absolutely love videos like this with the tech narration because they remind me of a lot and I learn a lot so please keep putting out videos like this! 👏 Question: Was he greasing the inside AND the OUTSIDE of the new engine seals as he was installing them? I was thinking if you greased the outside you might take a chance on spinning a seal at some point. Am I wrong about that?
Jay / Michael, you two knocked it out of the park!!! Jay your comments of emotions were right on the mark. I couldn't look away while watching it. One of my favorite bikes was the 91-96 RMX. I would sure like to have a brand new one like that now. Great video.

Thanks Mike Really glad you enjoyed the video!
excellent production, thanks! I spent the last 2 years fully restoring a crate 1985 CR250. Exact bike I raced pro when I was 22 years old. It's funny watching others build the old bikes and comment, I'm like, yep, yep, yep. I also went Race Tech for the suspension and bought powder coat equipment and did that myself as well as the Harbor freight blast cabinet that I converted to also vapor blast. Probably have about $4500 in it and at least 500 hours of time, brand new everything. Not sure what I could sell it for. People that see it are amazed, it looks like a showroom bike. I've had it out a few times to jet the 38PWK Air Stryker and it rips!
Ride it!!!!
Wow this was insane. Super co to see how it became the coolest bike. 😊

I rebuilt an 81 RM.
As a mechanic I often wondered how carbies and kick start idler gears get so mangled on every bike I've worked on. Every video and 99.9% of people snap the throttle open and let go.....what do think happens to the slide, stop, and needle/clip? As for the kick start.....LOAD the starter instead slamming the gears......treat your bike right and it will serve you well for years.
Vapor blastinh looks so damn good but man its so hard to keep it clean idk what its changing with the metal but it makes it so the metal stains very very easy and is a mofo to keep it spotless
I think that tool you mentioned is a rivnut.

Wow that came out really good. Great video!
Wow
Really doesnt take that much money when your doing the abundance of the work yourself
Ok last question: what brand of vapor blaster is that? Or, did Michael make his own? That seems the like the perfect size for a normal garage.

Good job but that bloody music would put years on a person😀
God that engine just looks so damn sexy 😍!!! Minus the lectron because Air Stryker is where its at or a smart carb if you wanna spend the money but lectron nope not that junk lectrons cut the life of the top end in half
That's a great bike which he made better with the Lectron and suspension He should mount 97 RM conventionals It's a literal sin to build it and not use it
Rado couple year project 😂
Link to the music??
Tell him he fucked up, I'm 99% sure he put that main seal on backwards on the wet side.
👌💪👋👍🏻🏁💨💨
Build A+ Video A Music editing F I wish I had time and money to rehab old bikes like that. you guys did a great job. I had to watch the video muted. your choice of obnoxious hip hop techno trash was bad enough. but then you turned the volume up between every bit of narration. please don't do that anymore.
I Hawe SUZUKI TSX 125cc
What a Shame to not ride it. All my vintage Penton/KTM's (all 6) are all riders It does help to have an unmolested core bike to start with
