I don't think so, I have also heard That sound. Let me tell you my story. Whenever there is a power cut at night and if no other noises are coming (fully silence), I hear this sound. But it is very normal for. me. Even, I never thinked about this until I heard that 2% of people have also heard this. I never felt that it is harming me. It is really normal for me

Same! That happened to me at 1:42 am in the morning today. I was listening to music quietly because everyone was sleeping and I generally don't like having a lot of volume on my earbuds, when I hear this weird noise that I had never heard before. For me it was like someone put a giant invisible speaker in the corner of my bed and turned the bass all the way up slowly getting louder and louder and played a consistent G note. It lasted for a good 20 seconds and it hurt from my left ear to the back of my throat on the left side only during and after the sound. It sounded like it was above me, beside me, and in my head. I thought it was from the music I was hearing, but when I took both buds off it only got louder. That was terrifying. I texted my friend who lives kinda close to me and I asked her if she heard it and she told me that she hadn't. It was so strange. So I am trying to do research as well.

I've been hearing this for years now, but last night I lost it. It kept going and then it stopped. It kept going and then it stopped. I couldn't sleep because I was so focused on the sound and the low vibrations, and the more I paid attention to it, the worse it became. I decided to put on a stopwatch to see how long the sound keeps going until it stops every time, to measure the intervals, to see if there was some kind of generator beneath my town that made the sound. But there was no consistency whatsoever. I decided to finally type in 'low constant noise at night' on Google, not expecting to actually find anything, and that's when it popped up. 'The Hum'. I completely freaked out when I realized that people worldwide have been hearing this for such a long time. It was insane! And I read that some people have blamed the sound on tinnitus, but I can actually feel the vibrations from it (and I'm pretty sure I don't have tinnitus) so that's impossible.

I started hearing this and I could almost sense where it seemingly came from. I had this almost uncontrollable urge to follow and find the source. I figured out that it got louder the farther north I traveled. After almost 2 hours of driving, i could hear what sounded almost like a bass from a car breaking. It was like I could hear it like a drum coming from somewhere in a vast field. I became anxious if I should trespass on this property due to it may being private. It did look very vast with only grass and hills stretching out into the horizon. So I proceeded. After some time, I had come across a very old looking well made of rocks that are falling apart. The sound by this point had became almost unbearable to listen to even when I plugged my ears. With all the strength that I had, I looked into the well and there was absolutely nothing. And in a split second, it all was gone. I could hear the faintness of the grass blowing in the wind and hear little planes passing above me. It was the craziest experience I had ever had. I've only told a few people about this and they all don't believe me fully. I hope someone could explain or help me figure out what this could of been? Also, I'm from Canada and I was in northern Ontario at the time.

I've been hearing this hum and it wakes me up. Is usuallly between 2 and 4 am - lasts about 1 to 2 hrs. It is exactly like a massive diesel truck engine. I've studied it and even taken short drives to try to find where it comes from. Interesting that the hum is not in all locations. When I lived in Texas, there is no hum, however in Atlanta there is definitively a hum. In one of the drives in Atlanta, I ended in the parking lot of a Wal*mart store... and the interesting thing is that I felt a vibration in the ground as I walked to try to find it, but as you say sound comes from everywhere... Since I visited the Wal*mart at night, there are police cars so I can't investigate more without them approaching and asking stupid questions. But maybe there is a connection between the Wal*mart and the hum. It's been at least 1 full year of the hum. And my wife can't hear it... although I have recorded it and as I play it back louder it is very clear.

Natural gas pumping facilities. I’ve heard it in certain locations in my area. Turns out there is a gas pumping facility within 15 miles. The engines are the size of a house, and there are a dozen running at all times. They turn at 200-250 rpm. The pulses they create are forced into the ground into a giant rock dome, or underground pipes at 900 or more psi. This pulsation is very noticeable when the pumps all synchronize. Creates a humming pulse that can be heard for miles.

i'm hearing it right now, hence the reason i'm doing research.. started round about lunch time (12 hours ago) low vibrational hum, like there's machinery or an engine running outside.. it's mad, i've never heard it before, completely new to me.. it's actually quite disturbing, it pulses as well when you really tune in and listen, it's very odd indeed.....

it's hard to say where it's coming from.. i'm the same as you, I find it easier to hear in the house, especially when I'm upstairs but when it's completely still outside, no breeze or wind, I can hear it.. not as strong as I do indoors though.. for me, I hear it in my left ear only and the sound itself seems to come from a southerly direction.. it's the weirdest, weirdest thing.. it's whirring away right now.. was very loud this morning, heard it again late evening and as usual, late at night.. it's a constant, droning hummmm..

i read somewhere on a science article that the hum itself registers between 2-3Hz so that would explain why he couldn't pick it up on the machine.. and no, most defo not tinnitus, they're two entirely different sounds and frequencies.. plus tinnitus is internal while this noise comes from outside.. i'm getting used to it now, although I have to be honest, when the noise gets intense I can feel it in my energy field and after a while it starts to affect the area around my head.. hey ho.. have a good day....

Well his map looks like the majority of the people who hear the hum are located around big cities. Could it possibly be the extreme amount of electricity coursing through these big cities causing the hum, just like a power substation or a electrical transformer would produce a hum?

I grew up with a strange obsession and a close relationship with interval/frequency recognition as to make sense of the wack range of frequencies I'd grown accustomed to due to an abnormally sensitive ability to hear things the average human ear has no business in receiving (you don't have to believe me, but I'd gain nothing from fabricating this). This dates all the way to my birth (or so I'm told) when an average hearing test resulted in strong reaction to frequencies I shouldn't have been developed enough to pick up. A short browsing of the music I've made makes it very apparent that even with 10 years of experience in audio engineering I'll never be able to create a balanced mix that sounds normal to me. Lower frequencies are particularly touchy to my perception, often leading a singular smooth sine wave in mid-low registers to sound similar to that of the hum recording in this video. I've tested this by observing multiple sets of "normal" ears give the same description of a single tone that I could physically *feel* strongly apparent dissonance from. This acute sense of hearing has been both a blessing and a curse. I should be considered extremely lucky to have utilised it to my advantage in some areas within my field, but at the same time sub bass and even mid range frequencies in my work are always unclear or completely left out because I'd never appreciate the fruits of my own passion if I mixed things according to how you hear your favorite industry standard songs. Shiz is absolutely nutty, the hum may not be to blame but similar hearing anomolies have shaped my life completely and I can definitely see this driving others completely insane.

This is not tinnitus ( ringing in ears) started to experience this vibration annoyance @5 yrs. ago. I do suffer from tinnitus whole different frequency. To describe it, low pulsating rumbling noise like a Diesel engine at idle. I can experience the “hum”vibration in one side of my head (ear left -side) and tinnitus ring in my right. If that makes sense. Of course this is mainly when I have a quiet house. I have read where it affects adults 50+ which a majority may have significant hearing loss. Why is that ? P.S. both ears are ringing, yet because the “Hum” is so penetrating I mainly experience it on one side more. I hope this is helpful to someone.

Hører det samme i minst to mils omkrets av meg. Hører det i alle hus jeg har vært innom i omegn her. Nord i Trøndelag. Noen ganger høyere, noen ganger lavere. Konstant brumming, litt variasjon i tone.

I used to hear "the hum" a few years back at my home in Northern NJ..... this past weekend at around 3 AM while at my son's home in upstate NY I heard it again..... a low frequency hum that about every two seconds got a little louder than returned to what it had been. It could almost be a large diesel truck idling but it's not. I checked all around the house for potential sources...none found. It's not loud enough to cause me any issues like it does for some but just enough to keep me awake. And unlike white noise, it doesn't put you to sleep once you know it's there. After I returned the following evening to my home in NNJ, I awoke to the same hum early the next morning. So is it in my head? Did it follow me? Is it truly a world hum that only some hear? My wife doesn't hear it..... call me Perplexed in NJ....

It's 7 AM as I write this, and it's like a giant diesel truck idling. It's as if the sky is a road, and there's an electric car riding above us-the sky-but we can only hear the humming from the tires. My brain can't accept it; I almost hear it every morning before the lights come on, between 6 and 7 am. When people start waking up for work around 8 AM, it stops, fading away. I've had a lot of thoughts about what it could be. I thought it might be one of those cloud makers that the government hides between the mountains to control the weather. Or it might be a highway sound, but it's almost as if it's a highway with an unending stream of traffic, like an unlimited train passing us. There's a big road close by, but I can guarantee there's no traffic from 6 to 7 AM-barely 3 to 4 cars-because it's just a secondary road leading to the highway . (morocco/marrakech we dont have a beach)

I heard this in Brittany about two years ago. It was a one off, very loud and uncomfortable and went away when I went into my house. I live in a very rural area of France.....not near industry, the sea, not tinnitus, no traffic, no agricultural activity and never repeated since.

  • @lmzf23
    @lmzf236 ай бұрын

I didn't know about the Hum, until I heard it 50 minutes ago, and started searching for similar experiences. Was getting ready to go to bed, some 30 minutes past midnight, when this kind of distant loud motorcycle or airplane sound started, but after a while it never changed in intensity, so I started thinking it was something flying around, or driving west or east 200m behind my house at a constant speed for way too long, so I looked at the road and there was a garbage truck going east, but it made its own sounds and drove away, yet the strange noise persisted like it was around and above me. I looked at the sky, maybe full moon, many clouds, a few long curved lines in them, but I never saw where the strange noise was coming from. It lasted 3 minutes more or less, same intensity almost all its duration, sounded close and loud enough to bother me, yet I couldn't identify the source of that strange noise. I live in the south of Portugal, a few km east northeast of Portimão.

+Keno I guess it's simply a social phenomenon. If your best friend asks you if you can hear it too, but that it is very difficult to hear and you need to concentrate a lot, there is a good chance that you'll try and finally think you'll hear something (same if you simply read about it). And bang .. there's another believer and we have a self-increasing feedback loop. This might explain why it's locally clustered in highly populated cities. Also have a look at the map. The more industrialized the states on average, the more time people have time for such stuff instead of being busy with ensuring survival and the higher the rate of people believing to hear something. Of course that's just a wild ass guess. Maybe it is the fish .. or mating wales.

that is tinnitus, It is most commonly found with people who have allergies, but there are other reasons. I have listed them for convenience: Blockages of the ear due to a buildup of wax, an ear infection, or rarely, a benign tumor of the nerve that allows us to hear (auditory nerve) Certain drugs -- most notably aspirin, several types of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, sedatives, and antidepressants, as well as quinine medications; tinnitus is cited as a potential side effect for about 200 prescription and nonprescription drugs. The natural aging process, which can cause deterioration of the cochlea or other parts of the ear Meniere's disease, which affects the inner part of the ear Otosclerosis, a disease that results in stiffening of the small bones in the middle ear Other medical conditions such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, circulatory problems, anemia, allergies, an underactive thyroid gland, autoimmune disease, and diabetes Neck or jaw problems, such as temporomandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome Injuries to the head and neck

I think I know. At the same time that I first heard the hum work had been completed outside the house. A gas leak prompted new pipes to be laid along the street, at the same time the water main pipes were strengthened and water put to a higher pressure. These pipes are usually some distance from the house ie. past the front garden. However for houses that open directly onto the pavement, terrace houses, the pipes are actually along the foundations of the house. I go outside at night...no humm...back inside at night it seems to emit from the walls.

I have tinnitus, but when I was 17 living in the Tonto National Forest in Arizona half a mile from a local highway one day, I heard what sounded like someone playing that ringing on glasses that some have made into music. I was sitting on the couch in the morning, and it persisted for 4 minutes, and I thought it was coming from the highway- even though it was 6am, the sound wouldn't have lasted that long, and all the doors/windows were shut. I tried hearing it again as I lived there 8 more years and never heard it again. I asked my mother who had been up at the time, and she never heard it from her room. It's stuck with me forever because it was as I can recall, the purest sound I'd ever experienced. But I doubt that's what this is, based on your description. I just wanted to share my story:)

I’ve recently been hearing this low pitched droning noise in my apartment. It only started this year. It changes frequency and makes my eardrums vibrate. It’s most noticeable at night. I’ve searched my entire building and outside and can’t hear it outside of my unit. I’ve lived here for 10 years and have never had this issue before. It sounds like it may be emanating from the unit upstairs or next door. It is incredibly unsettling. It started around the time of 5G. Any connections?

I HEARD IT! Last night! That why I'm looking it up. I couldn't sleep. There was no headache. I just couldn't comfortably rest. It came from the sky and we don't live next to large power lines nor a military base. I live in the middle of nowhere. And I'm in my 30's

I heard the same thing last week for like 10 seconds. I went outside to see what was making the sound that sounded like it was coming from the sky and it was completely silent. I haven't heard it again. It literally sounded like big spaceship landing or something absolutely massive coming in from the sky getting louder and louder and then dead silent as soon as i got to the door and opened it. It was the weirdest thing I've ever experienced.
