You can see the base stats of the units in the character editor. If you look there, then you haven't to wonder everytime if one unit is stronger than the other and can make more balanced fights.

I think the difference is terrain related obstacles and deaths which is why the french were doing minutelly different. The French are probably a recolour of the red coats

If you listen closely, you can just hear the faint sound of Rule britannia approaching.

The big issue facing armies of this era was range. If I remember correctly, the smooth bore had an effective range of 50-100 yards. I don't remember the exact range. This was before rifling barrels came into existence.

Aww I was hoping it'd be a but more realistic like in that old game Napoleon Total War. Front lines fire and step back to reload, second line moves forward to fire etc. Losses are filled in by rear ranks.

Hi daily, I'm excited to see the battle. And what if in the middle of a line battle the French and British team up to attack the time traveling modern soldiers. Maybe you can make a Gatling gun Soldier kind of like how you made the mg42 but with the muskets instead. You can make cannons by adding the tank shot onto a standard Soldier

This battle position was invented just to destroy cavalry this musket line formation destroyed cavalry so hard that they stopped becoming a major part of Battle

Wasn't the strength of their forces back then due to their numbers and ship designs? I'm pretty sure their cannons and muskets were of similar design back then.

If we are going for historical accuracy, the redcoats should be stronger than the frenchmen. Bassically, the French won the majority of there battles through the brilliant tactics of the leadership (napoleon was obviously a brilliant general, and he was a big fan of meritocracy in leadership, which wasn't as prevalent in much of Europe), as well as large number of troops the french typically fielded and engaged with. However, the individual soldiers weren't particularly great, esspecially at the start of the revolutionary wars where they were literally just peasants with guns, very little proper training going on. Contrast that to the redcoats. They were a much smaller force, due to being volunteer only and the UK just not having as many people as france, and much of the leadership was inferior to the French generals, with more nepotism and rank purchasing going on. However, the soldiers themselves were usually better than the French, as they usually were trained and drilled to the extent that they had significantly faster fire rate than the french troops (~4 shots a minute to ~3 shots a minute). They also used a 2 thick line formation, which offered far greater frontage than the typical 3 thick formation most European nations employed, and was highly effective against the favoured tactic of the French, the column, but that doesn't come up in game. TLDR, redcoats should have a somewhat faster fire rate than the French.

@@gringologie9302 I'm not entirely sure what you qualify as old guard. If you mean pre French revolution, then maybe they were better than redcoats from the same time period, i don't know much of any large scale conflicts between that old guard and the British army of the time. If you mean soldiers from around the time of the battle of Waterloo, well, suffice to say that the odds were heavily in there favour and they still lost, so any comparison is pretty heavily in favour of the redcoats.

I had a similar bug in the last patch where it mixed the team numbers all up

May I just say, the Frenchmen of the 18th century wore white, not blue. (The royal deux-ponts regiment being an exception)

They need to add later 19th century units; I wanna see American civil war battles, especially guerilla/fire at will battles.

Brits fighting the French. No matter where and how, it's accurate. It's also how everyone imagined WW1 before it happened. Just a Napoleonic style war with millions of people.

Hey Daley could you use the Midevil and the French working together have the midevil warriors are like the cav an it goes for the same for the British the numbers for the French is 3,000,000 muskets, with 100,000 Knights, and 2,000,000 British musket revolution soldiers, and and 10,000 British cav but the French fights with the Americans there would be 1,000,000 American Modern soldiers
