Alex MacIntyre and Nick Colton finished a line on the north face of the Grandes Jorasses that had been attempted by Dougal Haston, Chris Bonington, Mick Burke, and Bev Clark during a 17-day siege in January, 1972. The Colton-MacIntyre is still considered a relevant climb, having swatted down a fair number of talented suitors. Colton and MacIntyre applied modern ice technique on a remote and austere face, taking the discipline to its logical conclusion.” The Alps, A glance at modern alpine style by Claude Gardien. Hats off to that. Nothing spoils a climbing video more than someone deciding that some dance music would set the atmosphere perfectly!

Inspirational. Possibly my favourite climbing video. So well filmed. Really capturing the beauty, the danger, the moves and most of all that calm focussed state of mind you need to climb a route like that. Thank you for sharing this and extremely well done on this bold awesome gutsy beautiful route on one of my favourite mountain faces on the planet that always beckons you if you dare!

Absolutely. I don't have the technical language to describe what they're actually doing in this video but I sure as hell know it's what I want to do one day.

Does anyone know what time of the year this was climbed? and how did they get down- didn't appear to have sleeping bags, sun a bit low in the sky at the end... This is a great video though, most climbing videos are a bit crap, and thank you for not putting any music on!!

I assume its not about whos the boss but about uniting with the nature and enjoying it, at least for me. the nature dont needs to be conquered. As we as human beings are part of the nature, we would conquer ourselves... rather we should unite with the nature again.
