I listen to a lot of true crime which has taught me that Korea has extremely strict privacy laws - they will never release the names of the people involved, and I seriously doubt that the broadcast station would know. For some cultural context, it’s not that uncommon in Russia to get married young and the engagement often only lasts a couple of months before the wedding which tends to be a relatively straightforward civil ceremony. So this isn’t really as odd as it may appear elsewhere. They will probably be married by fall.

Are you Russian? I am not Russian but there is a reason Russians speak the way they do and I like it. It's forthright and honest. It's funny listening to this person saying that being honest is "throwing shade" as if it's better to lie. This entitled attitude in the west expects everyone to only say positive things as if people are so weak we must lie to them. It's the "fat is healthy" crap that is lying to people. I am fat and I promise you it's not healthy. Its OK to call someone "sexy" and then say what their weaknesses are too because athletes don't need to be lied to. So now you can't even call someone sexy because it's "sexualizing" but if he were fat and ugly you all would have no problem if they called him a "sex symbol" and cheer it on. If it was Africa or an Asian country or the Taliban you would respect that their are cultural differences but you will never do the same for Russia who isn't forcing anyone to marry or have children. So what if they think someone getting engaged might be thinking of having children. In my family several of the most happy and content and successful among us all married before 21 and started having children. They are the most genuinely happy people I have ever known. Not everyone thinks the way you think they should and I am pretty sure many in Russia have varied ideas on how they view marrying young and having children but there is nothing wrong with Russians that think it's likely if you get engaged that you might want to start a family. It's not like no one in the west does this. After seeing so many in my family living such fulfilled lives by doing this it changed the way I view it. You all are so judgemental of every little word and don't even wonder yourself whether or not things are lost in translation. I guess you all want the legal age of 18 as an adult to be raised to 30. The condescending western supremacy towards Russians is kind of weird considering that it's a very safe place to live when compared to my own country. In my hood I have heard well over 50 people shot from my livingroom since 2020. If they survive the shooting it doesn't even get reported on local news because nobody cares. Since most fired shots don't hit anyone that means I have heard thousands of shots firec. I watch Russia host Games of the Future, The World Youth Festival, the BRICS Games, all this year including the upcoming Friendship Games in the fall and all of these events have over 100 countries represented because they are building culture. People in the west feel so Supreme over Russia but they simply aren't paying attention to what's actually happening. People in the west with their phoney virtue signals that will tell me as long as I am not guilty of "wrong think" myself that my fat is beautiful and healthy and sexy but 25 years ago it was sexualizing me to call me sexy because I was actually sexy at the time. Americans will cry about being sexualized and then post almost nude shots online right afterwards and still expect people to empathize next time they whine about being sexualized again.

@@kohlinoor stop acting like they aren't making choices for themselves. No one is forcing them. I guess you think they should be forced into not marrying and having children. It's funny how it's only Russia's cultural differences that people feel just fine to question and ridicule but when It's other countries suddenly you aren't supposed to question it. I can understand why they are ready to marry and have children and go in that direction and I can understand if they want to do something else. The most fulfilled people I know married young and had children. My daughter was never as happy as she is today being a wife and mother. Even she didn't predict that it could make her so happy. It's funny how you are treating these Russian figure skaters like they are idiots but unlike most poor people in my hood they don't have to work themselves to death for decades at some shit backbreaking job they hate because we all understand someone has to do those jobs. Unless you die very young you are an adult far longer than you are a child. If these skaters don't have to work their asses off anymore by the time they are 20 then they are very fortunate. I always understood Eteri when she talked about the lifestyle they get to have when they are through with competitive figure skating. I don't know if Eteri was ever poor but she comes across as someone who knows what it's like to be poor or certainly seems to understand it. No one makes these young people in Russia be skaters. Many quit. Eteri has made these girls have more options as adults than most of us could ever dream about. Stop putting your values onto people in Russia. I feel sorry for people in the west that believe Russians are the bad guys when they don't really know anything about Russia.

Since they came top 3 in worlds this year, they are all considered seeded skaters, and therefore are not able to face each other in GP comps (except for the final of course!). 4th-6th places are the same where they are not allowed to be in the same GPs so Kevin Aymoz, Jason Brown, and Kazuki Tomono are all also assigned to different competitions

For the Adam and Illia (and Yuma) rivalry in the Grand Prix, the ISU doesn't allow the top three from the previous Worlds to be in the same gp competitions. They probably do this to ensure there's a star in each event and to give all of them a better chance of making it to the Grand Prix final. It's the same for the 4th, 5th, and 6th place skaters (technically 5th to 7th now because Shoma's gone 🥲). The top three get to choose two assignments each first, then it's the turn of the 4th to 6th place skaters (so Jason, Lukas, and Deniss don't have the same assignments). Sorry for the long comment. Thanks for the great video!

The Russian media is the most honest. I enjoy their forthright approach. It's weird how just saying basic facts means they are "throwing shade" and now they expect Russia to go along with the western world that now thinks its "sexualizing" someone just because you say they are sexy. In America they would cheer on calling someone that's fat and unattractive like myself is sexy and healthy but if they said I was sexy because I was sexy like I used to be back in the day then they would call that "sexualizing" me. Being fat is very unhealthy and I should know. Being honest about Sasha's fiance limitations on the ice is just honest and this idea it's "throwing shade" is ridiculous. I also know plenty of people in the west marry young and have children and live very happy and fulfilled lives and no one is forcing Russians to marry young and have children but it's likely they don't have a problem with it. I can understand why an athlete when their career is over might want to move on to marriage and children. There is nothing wrong with wanting to do this. I know the west pretends the age of adulthood should be 30 instead of 18 but I am glad I got to be an adult at 18. It's also weird how none of you seem to be curious if things get lost in translation when reading translated Russian. I know I used to have to use translators when I got cases as a CPS investigater that were often Bosnian and its incredibly difficult to speak and understand this way. You do the best you can but it's just not the same as speaking to someone in the same language. So what if some Russians hear "fiancee" and then think it's possible you will want to start a family soon. The most happy and fulfilled people I know started very young as couples and having children so it's not right or wrong.

Lee claims alleged victim was boyfriend, regrets drinking By KTimes Lee Hae-in (18, Korea University), a female national figure skater, has been identified as the athlete who received a 3-year suspension for drinking alcohol and allegedly sexually harassing a minor teammate during overseas training. While she deeply regrets the drinking, she clarified that the victim was her boyfriend and denied the sexual harassment allegations. Lee apologized on her social media, saying, "Drinking alcohol was absolutely wrong, and I am deeply reflecting on my actions." However, she firmly denied allegations of sexual harassment. "The victim was my boyfriend when we were in high school. We broke up due to parental objection, but we reunited during this training camp." She added, "I thought it was just playful behavior or expressions of affection between lovers, and I never imagined it would lead to such a misunderstanding." Lee's lawyer reportedly said that the couple had kept their relationship secret this time due to opposition from her family. The lawyer explained that their behavior might have seemed strange to those unaware of their relationship, leading to the sexual harassment controversy. Because their relationship was secret, they did not disclose it during the initial investigation by the Korean Skating Union. According to the Korea Skating Union, during the joint national team training camp in Varese, Italy, from May 15 to 28, Lee drank alcohol in her room with fellow skater A. At that time, a minor male teammate, B, was also present. Lee allegedly engaged in behavior that made B uncomfortable. The union imposed a 3-year suspension on Lee and a 1-year suspension on A. B, who had entered the women's dormitory, received a reprimand for violating training guidelines. Lee, considered the "post-Kim Yuna" and a silver medalist at last year's World Championships, faces the risk of missing the 2026 Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics due to the suspension. She has appealed the decision to the Korea Sports Council, the higher body of the skating union. Her lawyer said, "We will fully explain that it was light physical contact in a romantic relationship and seek leniency for Lee Hae-in's mistakes." This is not the first sexual scandal in Korean skating. In 2019, Olympic short track gold medalist Shim Suk-hee revealed years of sexual abuse and rape by her coach, Jo Jae-beom, sparking the #Me Too movement in the skating community. This article from the Hankook Ilbo, a sister publication of The Korea times, is translated by a generative AI and edited by The Korea Times.

I am Russian, and it is very normal for girls to be engaged and married in their late teens/early 20s. Sadly, most of these girls end up divorced and some end up as single mothers (like the gymnast Aliya Mustafina, for example). I don't care if it works for some people, but I think getting married at 19 after a whirlwind romance is the height of foolishness. You are setting yourself up for faliure. And I say this even though I met my husband at 18 (we waited until 26 to get married, because, what's the rush). The pressure on girls in Russia to be married before 25 and have kids before 30 is insane, and I hate that patriarchal aspect of that culture. If you haven't started having kids by your late 20's, many people literally think you're a failure and something must be wrong with you.

I have a theory: Trusova has been very friendly with Eteri since exiting the team, Eteri has openly said that Sasha was the hardest working girl on the team, hence the quads, Eteri has been trying to push quads in pairs with that other couple but it has not worked, I don’t think it would be very farfetched for her to take in Sasha and Makar as a pair, specially because Sasha loves a never-done-before stunt, and there are plenty of those to be done in pairs.

Though if their names do get tossed around a lot and we hear nothing from their teams that they are uninvolved, then it will start looking more suspicious.

Hello, I am from Germany and was able to find more information about the people who are probably affected. Only two Korean figure skaters were part of the training camp, so it is very clear who A and B are. Only Young You and Haein Lee were actually there and must therefore be the skaters involved. In addition, a photo of both of them was published alongside the video, also made unrecognizable but, as with the video, still recognizable to anyone who knows both of them. In addition, A is supposed to be Haien Lee and B is supposed to be Young You. However, I don't know where the German sources got the latter information from and therefore can't confirm it. But unfortunately it's relatively certain that it's about the two skaters. Personally, I believe and hope that a supposedly inappropriate behavior is being turned into something bigger and worse. Perhaps they both did something that is quite normal for teenagers/young adults, but is judged differently for athletes in the public eye.

Haein and the boy had been boyfriend and girlfriend while in high school together, but her parents did not approve and made then break up. Then it looks like they got back together sometime afterwards, but were trying to keep it a secret because of what had happened before, on top of not wanting any drama with the teams or their careers, etc., and somebody got the wrong idea and blew this up a bit out of proportion...? (Again, this is just what it seems like from the reports I've seen.)

They are conservative in a bit diff way from usa, like for example homophobia is not justified because god wouldn't like it or hell ticket, but because of a HUGE ex felons population and toxic trauma coming from it. Also a huge amount of women in 40-60 age demo had abortions, almost all already in adulthood/marriage and for financial reasons, that's why abortion ban will never really happen here, since older woman are the biggest demographic right now. I wondered if her parents were pushing her into doing something academic at uni as soon as Oly's were over, instead of letting her finish her career in skating first. She stopped so young. It's a massive shock to your system when you stop skating, after having competed for years, and to make that decision so quickly and so young wasn't the best idea imo (unless she personally had, had enough with it).

And why does feel like the Korean federation knows that they might get 2 spot for the olympics (just like 2022 Beijing) soo they’re trying to “get rid of” Haein and Young to give the spot to Jia and Chaeyeon.

Sofia has zero points for ISU standings, so I doubt she gets two assignments anyway, probably one. But let's left the theories aside, Korea has a strong and competitive field and they had nice chances to have three spots for OG but now they are lower. So it definitely wasn't beneficial for the kor fed to get rid of such a popular and prospective skaters. The girls ruined everything by themselves, that's simple

Thing about getting engaged so quick for Sashulya and Makar-when the guy knows, the guy knows. Within a couple weeks (this is with a good, healthily attached, not-playing-around type of guy) they know if they wanna take it serious. They’re already considering their future with the girl. Now, everyone’s timeline is different, but especially in celeb culture, we’ve seen patterns that couples could be together for so long but never marry, and then they break up and marry the next one that comes along (Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens’s relationship being a notable example). I’m glad Sasha and Makar kept their relationship low profile, at least up to this point. I wish the best for them and hope Sasha doesn’t get too much harassment like poor Yuzuru’s ex-wife did 😢.

The sex symbol thing is coming from Max Trankov commenting on of the skating events. I think Maxim is just jealous of Makar who is really handsome. I wish Makar was more stable with her performance, he never was on podium of Russian Championship, and I don't think he took part in the international competition which is sad.

Makar was on podium of Rus Nats, he actually won silver in 2020-2021 season. And he definitely took part in international senior Grand Prix series but I don't remember him medalling there, he was like 5-7th places

Everyone knows that Sasha's father blew up her sponsorship with Channel One, the biggest figure skating media, so logic that the press are sceptical. But i must say that the Russian press is acurate and doesn't sugar coat everything.

Hopefully Jason Brown changes up his music selection. Would like to see him do more performances like his short program to Sinnerman. Enough with the weepy slow music.
