"Black-The queen captures the root only legal move" this part is wrong blocking it with a bishop is also a legal move + blocking it with a pawn is also a legal move I know it is too obvious just capture it with a checkmate but, just to tell that it is not the only legal move and also that these moves increase the total number of minimum moves required for checmate

Solution for the puzzle .. White move! Rook to d4..(black king has no square to go, so forcing black queen to take white rook) Because the black queen (qb2) having pin on the white queen and pawn, the rook move was to deflect black queen Hence, there is no pin now.. White pawn g3 is a checkmate..(both the pawns are guarded by king and white square is by the white queen)

The engine backfired badly for that kid. Also he should have thought logically that how can his opponent find such strong moves in a minute.

In Blitz game Ben should capture william's pawn so that he can go for draw again. Night & Bishop pair can mate the king but it's too complicated.
