Taylor started playing acoustic guitar when she was like 12. She started with the 12 string because someone said she couldn't do it and she wanted to prove them wrong. She can also play a 6 string, piano, ganjo, ukulele, electric guitar as you can see and maybe I am missing something. But I feel like an acoustic guitar is the most natural to her, even when she is talking to the fans, she is always strumming while talking...and she does that with a piano too, she is just playing some notes as she's talking about hte song she's about to play or whatever, those two instruments are just part of her at this point.

My favourite thing about this duo is how she made the original version super bubblegum pop as the antithesis of everything the ex in question likes when it comes to music....... But then she puts on this full on rockstar performance and absolutely kills it. I feel like legally blonde had to have been an influence for the decision to give it a rock makeover. Just imagine Taylor being told she's not a serious artist because she writes pop and wears pink, all the real musicians are angry and play rock etc and I just imagine her walking off that stage & facing that person who says "you got into rock?" And she just flicks her hair and replys "what! Like its hard?" then prances away happily 😂

Taylor mostly wore contacts in public, but glasses at home, especially when she was younger. She had lasik eye surgery around 2019 or so -- and Jimmy Fallon talked her mother into sending him video of her spaced out on the pain meds; pretty humorous. There are also some videos of her contacts slipping when she was onstage, and her having to reposition them in her eyes. So, any glasses she wore in the videos are probably her own, not props. Glad you did the original, but it might have been fun if you had done both of the different tour versions: on the Red Tour, she coupled the song with a circus/Alice in Wonderland stageshow, after her breakup with Harry Styles. Song was originally written about Gyllenhaal; she was in studio with Max Martin and Shellback to work on something else, when one of Gyllenhaal's friends stopped in to ask about a rumor they were getting together again. After the guy left, she ranted a bit, and they turned the rant into a song.

Taylor started playing the guitar (12 string) at 12 yo; she played electrics on stage or videos right from the start. She also plays piano, banjo, and ukulele when the mood strikes her. She has done a lot of acoustic performances if you go looking.

You should remember little Taylor thrilled when she got her first guitar for Christmas in Miss Americana. Also throughout that documentary all her writing scenes involve guitar or piano and she plays in Long Pond Sessions. As you know by now this song is about Jake G and how he kept playing her, gaslighting and disappearing until she had enough. I love the karma of the fact that two of his favourite indie bands he would disparage her music about were Bon Iver and The National (Aaron Dressler’s band). Fast forward and she’s making albums with Aaron Dressler (Folklore & Evermore and he’s stuck around as part of her core creative group ever since) featuring two collaborations with Bon Iver. Long Pond Studio belongs to Aaron Dressler, hope Jack G. who’s dating a 25 year old, is miles from that Oscar and is badly remaking Patrick Swayze movies (he is no Patrick Swayze) enjoyed the Long Pond Sessions film with some of his heroes looking up to the musical genius he belittled and mocked. have not gotten into Taylor Swift yet. I am a little (actually a lot) older but I do love P!nk and her music kind of follows a timeline of her growing maturity, My daughter turned me on to P!nk I went to her concert (then 2 more) and became a rabid fan. My granddaughters love Taylor, I just need to sit down and start with her music from the beginning to get a handle on it. I do admire and respect her as a person and artist and that is 75% of the journey. Thanks for the reaction-you got me started....

I love Pink too, and Taylor! Reputation and Midnights I would suggest if you like Pink, but Folklore and Evermore are my favorites, I hope you enjoy! Miss Americana is her documentary, shows a lot about who she is as a person and what her life has been like.

Just remember that if you're not vibing with any particular album's sound it'll change in the next one. Taylor's like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're going to get and nobody likes every single kind of candy. Also the new album drops 4/19 so there will be plenty of reaction content then.

It's amazing the growth of each album. She is very much a visual artist. You'll find out as you listen. Honestly, I'd recommend *not* starting with her first album or older stuff. Everyone's Swiftie journey is specific to them, and you should start somewhere you'll like. For you, I would recommend a listen to Reputation (and the Reputation Tour) or Midnights.

Pausing to say, Taylor has ALWAYS played the guitar, she wrote all her songs over her piano or her guitar. She’s good. Humor me, play the Paris live concert version of Death By a Thousand Cuts. She plays the guitar and the song….? Death by a 1000 Cuts.

At least she can take a break-up and make it into a killer song. It's something every female probably wishes she could do.😊

You should watch Taylor's Tiny Desk performance or Cornelia Street and Death By A Thousand Cuts from Live from Paris, those are some great performances where Taylor plays guitar or piano. And then obviously some stuff from the Eras Tour, the acoustic set, Taylor's vocals really shine there

During this song in the Eras tour dancer Kameron Saunders says “like ever” at the end of her speaking part. When overseas he says words in native language and dialect. It’s pretty cool.

I have been wanting taylor to do a rock album since she did the rock version of this 🫶 I love both btw its about Jake Gyllenhaal he notoriously hated pop so that's why it's originally pop

I think Taylor said in an interview that in the studio version she would make this one the catchiest, most annoying chorus ever so the guy (Jake Gyllenhaal) would never be able to get the song of his mind and he would finally get the message (they were NEVER getting back together). That's why the recorded version is sooooo pop and catchy. But I guess she was angry at him when she wrote it, so the Rock version sounds way better and to me it fits the song better than the studio version. It's amazing live.

You should watch her first live performance on the ACMs .. academy of country music awards .. she sings Tim McGraw.. playing guitar .. she’s known for years ! That’s my fav country song by her also !

You remember “Dear John”… she had a guitar around her neck. She started singing by all by herself with just her guitar. She can play 8-10 different instruments. She’s incredibly versatile and extremely talented. So glad you chose this live version. “Cornelia Street” in that same tour is just as amazing! We 🥰 Taylor. In the documentary, she was given a guitar for Christmas and 7-8 year old Taylor screamed to her parents: “I. Am HAPPY!!!” It was just so adorable. 🤗

The first performance was from 12 years ago. Big difference in Taylor as a performer, today. And Taylor writes her songs on acoustic guitar or the piano before she does a big production of the songs. Check out her long pond sessions. Lots of great songs, in a totally stripped-down fashion. She is in a cabin in the country & talks about the songs as she writes & performs them & it's great to see 'inside' that creative mind.

She was playing guitar when she started in country music. I don't know much about her life, because although I have listened to some of her music, I'm not a swiftie, but she does play. She's like a rare breed, like Carrie Underwood and I say that because she does things that a lot of people wouldn't know she does, like drums. And she's awesome at it.

I am not sure if she can play an actual banjo, I do not know things about instruments but I think I saw several people say that she only ever played ganjo aka instrument looking and sounding like banjo but having the same strings as an acoustic 6 string guitar would have

I love rock music. I hope the new album has some in it. We all know she can SLAY when it comes to rock. I've been saying for years that she is so metal. She a savage when it comes to her songwriting. If we were to go through her entire discography, we can pick out a couple of dark lines that one wouldn't think it came from Taylor Swift. One of them is my favorite line that says: "If I'm on fire, you'll be made of ashes too". Or how about: "And the skeletons in both our closets plotted hard to fuck this up." and "There are so many lines that I've crossed, unforgiven." etc.
