Cario, Egypt ➖When Luke Damant visits a new country, there's one thing you can guarantee... a clean shave is coming! So today I went onto the streets of Cairo to find a local barber that could freshen me up.
After asking a small boy where I could get a shave, he pointed me in the direction of some questionable alleys. I walked down for a few hundred meters, whilst asking the local Egyptian people where I can get a shave. A teenager directed me to a shop, but unfortunately, it was shut.
Another local man went well out of his way to help me, while he pushed his wooden cart down the alleys. We went to a few shops, all being shut, until about 10 minutes later where we found the golden gates into Mohamed's Barber store.

What I love about this channel is that it's just a boy with a camera doing spontaneous stuff and showing different countries and cultures. A lot of other travel vloggers plan EVERYTHING out, it's let spontaneous and they use expensive gear. It's like watching a documentary. Please never change!

@@LukeDamant also in 7:52 when you pointed at the Quran playing he thought you said ikhwan, which is ikwan almuslimeen, The Muslim Brotherhood in English. now ikhwan is a certain political party that is a very controversial topic in Egypt years. They have good and bad people but when the Egyptian government held the first democratic election in 2012, a president name Muhammed Morsi that belonged to the Ikhwan party won the election. However the current president Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi did back then a military coup in 2013 to overthrow Morsi and he was successful but many of morsi supporters did a protest and many as a result were killed. Also Morsi was prisoned and there were many human rights violation about his prison conditions and he two years ago from health issues. So in Egypt's near history when you mention ikhwan it is a very sensitive topic. That's why the barber was hesitant and replied no no it's not ikhwan it's Quran.

the block he rub on your face that stringed so bad is a alum block i buy and still use it to this day very good at stopping small bleeds and conditioning your face even though it stings. that just means its doing its job.
Nice barber shop👍 Loved that kitten.
The Marks on the Sheep is to mark each herd so it won't get mixed with others. Luke walks into the Barber's shop. The Barber : Turn off the Camera so i can see to my work. Luke : goes no i am not turning it off. The Barber : asks why the Lights on. Luke : gets worried as it's a bit dark for the Barber to shave right..LOL but the Barber was really good. The Barber goes Ok whatever you are filming yourself getting a shave. Luke says yes. And some one at the door goes he is filming while he is getting a shave ,Ok let it be. Luke points at the Quran and the Man thought that you were getting Political.😂 The Barber is having a real good time with you and having a good laugh. The Barber is saying that your skin is burnt..😎 He is an old School barber , Nowadays they have the Steam / Wet Towel / Hot Towel techniques. The Crystal he used on your face is Alum which is really great in Skin treatment.

the stuff he used on your face and stings is like styptic pencils (bit on a bigger scale) you use when you get a small shaving cut, although you didn't get a cut ,this stuff closes all the pores and stops shaving rash or pimples from happening
