Hi guys, welcome to aclaireytale welcome to a brand new city break in Bruges, Belgium!! I show you all the top tips, travel advice in this travel guide of 2 days in Bruges!! Where to stay in Bruges, what to do, where to eat. I hope you enjoy!
We started the trip off in London and we got the Eurostar to Brussels, Belgium! While we were in Brussels we took a trip to Bruges! Bruges is well worth a visit if you are going to Brussels, do not miss this gem of a place! Bruges was a one hour direct train from Brussels. We arrived and went straight to the Bruges Market Square (Markt) It was so beautiful. We were hungry so we went straight for lunch for some Belgian Frites! We got Belgian Fries from Frietfarm. We sat at a beautiful church while eating them. We looked around the town a little bit, looking at the beautiful architecture and we found the famous Bruges canal.
I show you where we stayed in Bruges. It was a lovely hotel called Hotel Acacia, I highly recommend it was so well situated. A very short walk from the main square. I give you a hotel tour and a room tour. It was then time for a Bruges Canal Boat Tour! It was great to see the city from the canal. It's then time to see what Belgium is famous for, its chocolate!! We went to the Chocolate Line which was voted the best chocolate shop of 2023, we went to the Old Chocolate house, The Chocolate Kiss, Home Sweet Home and La Belgique Gourmande. We buy lots of chocolate! I try one of the melo cakes on camera. We then go into 2Be in Bruges Bar. They serve SO many beers in here! I highly recommend. It's a very busy bar! They have a beer wall and beautiful views of the canal. Simon got a coconut beer! We spend the evening walking around the city and going back to the Markt as the sun is setting.
The next morning we go on a free walking tour! We booked the tour with Legends walking tour and it was SO good, I highly recommend! We learned so much about the history and culture of the place and really got us understanding the place so much more. He told us many fun facts and stories, I try to include a few of them but I definitely recommend doing the walking tour yourself! We also went to areas of Bruges we hadn't been to yet such as the Belfry tower, Beguinage, churches, town hall, smallest gothic window in the world, Michelangelo's mother and child, he told us what to look out for in the best chocolate in Bruges. All the chocolate shops with the guild plaque outside.
We then go for a hot chocolate at the Old Chocolate House for the BEST hot chocolate in the world!! We also try Belgian waffles and they were delicious! We pick up a few chocolate boxes from there for my family.
I leave the vlog on a fascinating story about Bruges about why it is the way it is. I don't have the full facts but it's a gist of what the tour guide told me so I hope you enjoy that!
We head to Brugge train station and get the one hour train back to Brussels! I leave the vlog at the main square.
I really hope you enjoyed coming along with us on this trip to Brugge, Belgium! Hope you find it helpful if you have a trip booked. Do let me know below if you have any questions!
Do hit the like button if you enjoyed the video and we'll see you next week for BRUSSELS!!

Didn't think id watch the whole 30 minutes since I am from Bruges, But it was very entertaining! Seems like you two really found the right way of exploring the city. If you like Bruges you'd like Ghent too, its only 25 minutes by train and has a lot of simular qualities. Def come Back during winter to feel the Christmass magic. Also if you get a chance' def climb the Belfry tower! it has 366 steps, 1 step for each day of the year! Once on top you have an amazing view of whole Bruges. It goes so far, you can even see the sea! (make sure you go on a clear day).

Oh what a wonderful video yet again! It`s so lovely that you can travel to all these amazing places in Europe; being so accessible from the UK! I`m on the west coast of Canada; so not so easy (or as inexpensive lol). I love all your travel videos, and I learn so much from them. Looks as if you had an amazing time, and always nice to hear from Simon! ❤🍁

A lot of cities in Belgium have at least 1 beguinage. It was a way for single women to move to cities to find work-opportunities, whilst still being in both a safe and pious environment. They would later on, possibly find someone to marry and move in with them, or stay single in the beguinage and still have the possibility of being economically independent. They weren't nuns, so chastity was more of a personal vow than an official one, for those that lived there. As someone who has specialized a bit in queer history, I think it's also worth noting that, just like in nunneries, whispers about "lesbian-like behaviour" are quite prevalent. Most beguinages in Europe are now open to men as visitors. But some are still strict about gender when it comes to residents.

The Flemish revolts (plural) extended way beyond Bruges, other cities in Flanders and the Duchy of Brabant were also involved. Heads were rolling left and right but in the end it meant the end for Bruges as mentioned by the guide. Antwerp had always supported Maximilian so it benefited most of the downfall of Bruges. The sanding up of The Zwin, Bruges connection to the sea, contributed to the decline of Bruges but wasn't the main cause. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flemish_revolts_against_Maximilian_of_Austria
