I am so lost. Why is it when I look up a chord, such as the D6/9 there are so many different fingerings for it. No, I don't just mean which finger to use but I mean entirely new frets, and strings that it is too confusing. If something is as vastly different as I am seeing they shouldn't share the same naming. Go to Google and in the search bar type d6/9 then go to a site with chord charts. It is insane to me.

I am 61 and decided to want to learn to play the acoustic guitar, I love the way you teach, you go nice and slow so us beginners can catch on, others I've watched go way too fast, they seem to forget we're just beginners. I'm glad I came across you.

I'm 73 and I've always wanted to play guitar. I have osteoarthritis and I'm working on not only strengthening my fingers but getting them to move right. Thank you for helping all those like me. I'm really enjoying learning. You are really good at what you do. I know that everything is repetitive so I don't get frustrated but just keep practicing. I'm working on horse with no name until I can get proficient at going from e-minor to d6/9 without hesitation or having to really think about it. My husband says I'm sounding better and I'm glad that he encourages me and listens to me doing the same thing over and over. Keep up the good work and bless you for being encouraging especially to us older folks.

I can do it, my very first song!! Its not super smooth as yet, but I'm just continuing to practice every day. I feel super proud as I never thought I'd achieve much with arthritis, which makes fingers reluctant to move as directed very often. So grateful to you Lauren, you are a super tutor for us seniors. Thank you! 😊

Thank you so much. On December 9, 2020, my Dad died of Covid. He was an avid guitar player. He played every day and in his lifetime he wrote over 3,000 songs. The last thing I told him before he died was that I would learn to play and I wouldn't let the music die. I haven't been able to open his guitar or even attempt to play it. I just couldn't. Yesterday, I picked up the guitar he had left me. I tuned it and found your videos. Thank you so much for helping me fulfill the promise I made to him. I just played the easy version of Horse with No Name for my hubby. It means a lot to me. THANKS again. Hopefully, I'll be able to play his songs soon.

Found your videos, found a pick I could manage ( a Clayton triangle pick, size .50-.63, applied monster grips to both sides) I'm not playing with a pick and I love the punchy snappy sound and my fingernails are now looking healthy

Singing and strumming is quite revealing where to play which chord. And also the singing in slow tempo is quite useful to beginners.

Yet another great lesson on how to play one of the most popular songs ever recorded: this song takes me back to those low light pizza parlor days when my dad was the manager and this song got played so much on the juke box (broke my dad's wallet getting all those quarters lol) Lauren you teach your students in such a simplified manner, and how to have FUN learning @ the same time. THANK YOU SO MUCH TWO THUMBS UP AND A HIGH FIVE! ;)

Speaking from an older guitar players point of view, having clicked out of curiosity on this video, I thought that Lauren presented her lesson really well. Well structured for a novice to easily 'take on board' and her vocals at the end was a really nice touch as well. ... ☺ Recall listening to 'Horse With No Name' when it hit the charts donkey's years ago and although simple in itself and performed by a band at the time, the actual track back then struck me as having a special 'feel' and that old music saying of "less is sometimes more" (I think) applies to the recording.
