Perhaps because there is not much thrill, danger, and drama. Unlike their Scottish father who went to the newly reopened China alone without speaking much Chinese, the boys are raised in China and have their father's crew to ensure their safety.
Who would have thought that brollies would be such great pieces of equipment in the Gobi! Those umbrellas your'e using look as if their silver-lined for heat reflction, so I guess they are marketed as parasols, right?

Cool umbrellas indeed! I always take holding umbrellas under the sun a very Chinese act. Good to see the brothers get into this tradition. Definitely good for skin and prevent dehydration.
