    When I worked for the Chicago Transit Authority I thought our trains were slow. Extended snail's pace here makes me think CTA almost deserves the term "Rapid Transit". Signal blocks seem extremely short in many places. So many signals appear to be controlling speed but for no reason.

    Why does the route run entirely underground after Warden Station? It must be hell just trying to GET to Kennedy Station; in the opposite direction, trains run out like they're Batmobiles especially with the sounds and/or vibration bouncing off the tunnel walls; just curious, how come the Rosedale Valley Viaduct is completely covered up? It's one thing for the subway to have it's own bridge to realign with Bloor Street in both directions due to the curves along Bloor and Parliament Streets, I even saw a documentary about the air vents that were covered up later to cut down noise reduction, but the sceneries of the Rosedale Ravine could have helped.

    @@joelsterling1445 I remember coming across a video or a commentary explaining why the route goes underground nonetheless to/from Kennedy Station. . .amazing how a passage was chosen for a route with no major and/or cross•streets to support any route. . .an example goes to London's Underground where the Picadilly Line follows the National Rail commuter trains for a great distance between King's Cross/St. Pancras Station to Highbury/Islington (I l💓ve double named station stops), BUT it's completely underground (see the video), and doesn't see the light of day until Arnos Grove.

    I wanted to come up to Toronto and ride Deborah Street subway and I wanted to look out the railfan window and get a head end ride. I notice on other clips I see that the car fronts are roped off. Are they all like that or just some of the trains? I hope they stop that soon. I haven’t been up to the great city of Toronto in about seven years. Thanks. .

    Alex Jirgens like Vancouver's SkyTrain turnaround, the trains simply use a series of points to guide the train onto the opposite set of tracks. The points move and guide the train in the right direction when it switches directions. So there's no loop

  • @ThomasJM

    @ThomasJM

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yup same here except when it first started use here there was a loop at one end but it only lasted about a year or so because they had trouble with the trains getting stuck in it. Originally the SRT line in Toronto was supposed to use Streetcars instead but the province of Ontario wanted to try and sell the SkyTrain technology. The only other ones in service still are in a few airports in the US as well as Vancouver and Detroit. Of all of the locations using it Vancouver is the biggest user of it.

    The Scarborough subway should be extended from Kennedy and Eglinton along McCowan Road to McCowan and Sheppard (consisting of 3 or 4 stops) - The McCowan subway could later be extended north one stop at a time towards McCowan and Steeles, the Town of Markham, and Markville Shopping Centre as the demand and population density requires it - See my blog at TorontoTransitBlog@blogspot.com for more information, comments, and concerns, regarding traffic and transit in Toronto
