Trekked it 10+ hours from Texas to Missouri for a Chin Track Days event at Ozarks International Raceway. Although it was quite the haul, it was absolutely worth it!
They call this track the American Nurburgring, and it’s a very fitting nickname. The combination of immense elevation changes, and high speed, blind corners makes it the most exhilarating and challenging track I’ve driven to date. In addition to the blind corners, the walls aren’t very far, which means a lot of commitment is required to drive this track at the limit.
It’s demanding physically too. You’re hustling most of the lap - even the front straight isn’t really a straight. But when you get it all right, wow is it rewarding!
My best lap of the weekend was a 2:55.41, which I ran on my third session on Saturday. I was looking forward to improving this time on Sunday, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to run due to a mechanical issue. It was a bit of a bummer only driving one day, since I know the car and I have more time out there, but I’m still very happy with this lap considering it was my first time out at Ozarks. I can’t wait to go back!!
Note: OIR being a relatively new track meant that my Aim Solo 2 didn’t have it saved. Thankfully it has a track auto learning feature, where it can map out the track itself after driving around the track for a lap or two - a very cool feature!! However, the point where the Aim began timing the lap wasn’t right on the start finish line. This is why I included a portion of the second lap in the video, so we can see the 2:55.41 displayed on the Aim.
