Megaword debuted on my 10th bday. I always watched Wheel with my great grandparent’s and they made so much noise during this episode. I remember so much about this night. Thank you for triggering so many memories!! ❤❤

Oh, he did. You can even hear it when he introduced it. "ISN'T THIS FUN?!" When Trent Girone, that special-needs contestant, appeared on the show several years ago, he brought up Megaword as one of the bizarre pieces of Wheel history, and Pat started talking about how much he hated every second of when one came up. So you're absolutely right.

As an old soul Wheel Of Fortune person for 1994, I'd say I like that category Megaword it's quite a combination of the dictionary in each word. This is gold.

I like how Pat says "megaword". It's like it's his dastardly supervillain name.

Wish they would have the puzzle board, wheel and set-up for the Wheel of Fortune video game as a retro-throwback

All together, there were 42 Megaword rounds in season 12, and perhaps were Pat Sajak's 42 least favorite rounds in his 90's career. I liked the category, but I personally would have not ever tried this as a category if I was the producer back then. Even some of these contestants back in 94-95 may have never heard of some of those words before, and puzzles like PRISTINELY, BOMBASTIC and OXIDIZED were examples of showing how this category turned out. Oxidized? OXIDIZED?!?! As a WOF wheel-spinning puzzle, seriously?! You're just asking for a lengthy round with that! And it sure was, nearly 6 minutes, possibly the longest-lasting single round in WOF history! "That was a mega-headache" Pat Sajak must've been saying after that round!

When ideas sound good on paper. Wheel of fortune edition.

Yes, you're right. In fact, if you see her lips closely right after she calls the A, she said "I know what it is." But she was too embarrassed to solve it. What were they thinking using a word like that for a puzzle on WOF, a family-friendly game show? I would've said absolutely not for that word.

@@jasonarnold8448 I wouldn’t solve that either. If I did, I would not say anything to complete the sentence because there were kids watching the show at home and especially in the audience! What were the staffs thinking to put that obscure word as the puzzle?! I’m glad it never happened again after this inappropriate puzzle in front of the kids at home and in the audience! I watched wheel when I was little and thank goodness I didn’t watch that episode because of the puzzle so I wouldn’t have any idea what the puzzle was!

@@biruss that would be a good sentence to make sure that the kids don’t understand what the sentence means by that and you tell them that they don’t wanna know and inform them that you’ll tell them when they get older.

The only category you would have to rely on Q, X, Z, and J to have a shot 😂😂😂

Interesting...the 1989 theme lived on in the puzzle solve cue when they changed to the 1994 theme.

Megaword was a category until it was oxidized.

I'm fairly sure this is what got producer Nancy Jones fired. The 1994-95 season was so bad. Using a low-money category FOUR TIMES during a CHARITY WEEK?!

I wonder if they would have accepted "I have to use the word extemporize in a sentence" because that is grammatically correct.

I bet Oxidized irritated Pat because only three consonants appear, two of the consonants being X and Z, which seldom appear, so the contestants called almost every letter to finish the round

Imagine what Pat's reaction must've been when he saw OXIDIZED on the solution card he was given at the start of the round. He must've said in his mind "Oh, great, this one's gonna be fun."

@matthewcasiglio2539 Actually, the Surprise wedge debuted in the 1992-93 season, which was season 10. And I believe the Surprise wedge idea came with the commemorating of the show reaching its 10th season. At least that's what I heard Pat say about it on a clip from that season.

I was a high school freshman when this category was introduced. This category is discontinued. The 1997 puzzle board was introduced during my junior year of high school.

English is not my native language,and have been about 27 years in America ,but I was surprized myself when after watching about 15 minutes of this video I gussed "haphazardly" word at 6:25 by only seeing "......ard.." and "flamboyantly" at 21:22 by only seeing ".l......ntl." But I didn't know the meaning of them , but they were ringing in my ears.Probably because of watching too much tv. Btw often I guess puzzles in wheel of fortune. Sorry talking about myself

I guess when Harry took over in the mid-12th season, he must’ve been felt like towards Merv: “To Hell With this category, I got better plans than having contestants put words into sentences that wasted too much time for taping!”

😂😂😂 it’s just the fact that they chose words with little to no repeating letters for me. And based on the fact that Wheel is 30 mins an ep.. I can’t believe they chose to have a category like this! They damn near forced ppl to solve on some of them.

With a category like this and all the time it took to figure the puzzles out, especially that "OXIDIZED" one, I'm glad it was retired!
