You overlook the fact that gold reflects light onto the art form. Gilded frames play a major part in the lighting of a painting. As with icons, gold is used to bring in light to see the actual painting. Gold reflects light which no other color does, though silver has some as well.
I LOVE OWLS TOO!!
your gonna set the painting on fire man

Yeah i was thinking the same... It’s a 1500 years old masterpiece and he is holding a lid candle just over its surface lol
Golden streets in the heavenly promised land. Kings and priests.
again with the whispering. is he afraid of waking up the painting?
Watching this would make you think that if your civilization didn't have access to the Mediterranean Sea, your civilization didn't matter.

timothy hill you need to be an orthodox Christian and be blessed by the priest. You then have all your tools and paints blessed. You then paint under a state of meditation on god. Easy.
Why speak of the painter of Icon pieces without showing a finished work . This may seem like a petty complaint , but who seeing this would not wish to see an example of the mans painting ? It's one of those dropped details that make me wince with disappointment .

Your comment doesn't address my complaint at all .
0:50 - This guy knows nothing of the Ancient Egyptian religion(s) - specifically the afterlife! His "...and I think he thought the gold would rub off on him and give him a little magic..." 🙄🤨 Just dumb.
This guy know much about art but nothing about faith or religion at least nothing about christianity.

I don't believe he claimed to. Besides, religion and art is all in the eye of the beholder. It can be interpreted any which way.

Christianity was unoriginal?!😂😂 Your misrepresentation of the Bible’s message and your own limited view of Christianity comes through pretty loud and clear! Perhaps a general conversation with the wider Christian community and their view may have helped inform your script better. Instead you have only inspired disrespect and amusement. Thank-you!
