Box 50-09 was dispatched at 15:40 hours on 2-3-23 for a building fire at 420 Pond Street in Bristol Borough.
Chief 502 arrived with fire showing from the front of building. The fire was running horizontally along the roof and façade of a multiple occupancy ordinary construction building. Wind gusts of over 40 MPH were pushing the fire and embers towards the rear and right side of the building.
Chief 502 struck the second alarm due to the wind conditions and potential fire spread to the exposures on the Walnut Street side of the building.
Chief 14 was assigned Operations and ordered E-14 to pull 2) 1 3/4 attack lines and the 1000 GPM deck gun to attack the fire in the front of the building. E-50 pulled an 1 3/4 attack line and had their own water supply. E-52 setup on the Walnut Street side of the building with an independent water supply was able to hit the roof fire with a deck gun. Quint 51 setup a portable monitor on the rear of the building on the Walnut Street side. Ladders 11 and 25 setup ground ladders, forced entry and went to the roof.
Several localized collapses occurred during the call and no one was injured. An unmanned aerial vehicle from Croydon Fire Company equipped with a thermal imaging camera was used throughout the call to check fire conditions on the roof and to monitor the flying embers.
The fire was placed under control at 16:09. 2,350 gallons per minute were used to achieve a rapid knock down in windy conditions. Bristol Township and Bristol Borough fire departments arrived quickly and worked together as a team.

Croydon Fire Company owns the drone, and it's a very valuable tool when used properly. It was deployed early on and helped us see that we had a smaller section of roof involved that was spreading rapidly under heavy wind conditions. Because we were able to see the thermal image from above, we made the decision to deploy master steams to the roof. It also let us see the flying embers landing on exposures, and we were able to sweep the roofs with multiple guns.

Thanks... good team work
Old strip mall where the space between the original ceiling and roof is an open plenum; facade front and possible multiple ceilings from different renovations. With the cluster of overhead lines this all adds up to a tough one. Good job!!!
Nice work!
Facades built on as an after-thought and are not secured that well to the structure itself. You can can also stick high-rise nozzles and piercing nozzles into these closed in overhangs and extinguish fire effectively. You just have to be careful because they do collapse with little effort and stress applied. AP
The citizens of that town are lucky to have such fast acting firefighters, this was a great video
Big fan of the tri fold! Nice deploy

Stretching between a pole and building is a rookie mistake made by a guy who is new. Learn from the mistakes we all make them, and it's the reason I didn't edit it out. When you pull a crosslay of any load, it has to be completely clear of the bed before the driver can charge it. An EMS person was "helping," pull the line on the officer side of the truck, and didn't have the last section clear. This causes a slight delay in charging that line. The crew figured it out quickly and corrected it.
Good job guys.
Great response, officers should dictate authority, how are the young fireman going to learn
I had a thought that running the line inside the pole could be a problem.
Great job except for one thing: so many people, especially line officers, not using SCBA! I'm a researcher into toxic exposures experienced by first responders (also a VFF and longtime EMS provider) and going into a smoky environment without using the SCBA and air just sets you up for potential catastrophic medical issues down the road. That one shop appeared to be a dry cleaner, which usually means perchloroethylene: very toxic and burns hot!!

Agreed on the masks. No dry cleaners at this location. The left side is under renovation and empty, and the right side is a dress shop. If they had entered into the dress shop, I believe they would have been masked up.
What siren is running that rumbler in the beginning? Sounds kinda cursed lol

It's a Whelen Howler driven by a Whelen siren. Also has a separate Power Call.
I would check for extensions (which there wasn't any) before calling a 2nd alarm
Are those all chiefs ones with the white helmets

Chief's and Company officers from several departments. This call was heavy on officers , and during the day in a volunteer area, you get what you get for manpower.
Bristol Stomp!
Why road not closed

The police were delayed with closing the road. I think it was a manpower issue.
