@@TheAlaskacabin They only show 38 minutes of disfunction because it gets more views. That was an 8 or 10 hour day and was profitable. Thats why it exists. In my experience the 1st day on a new project is often a circus and makes good TV lol

I have always liked Vern,maybe I could see past the BSG drama but he genuinely seems like a great guy,and still prospecting for gold after all this time goes to show what type of person Vern is in my opinion,this guy should be retired but the love he has for the hobby/living and the people all involved must make him a happy dude. I’d love to see a video series taking a look at the various different Nome dredges in detail including the ones that aren’t being used or are in the “dredge graveyard”. I’m just as fascinated with the boats/dredges and equipment as I am the gold if not more so I think it be awesome to get in depth look at the dredges that aren’t on the show, people’s ingenuity and engineering. 🤿 🚤

Just found your channel Vernon….this is so much better than the TV shows. Didn’t realize how much equipment, preparation, effort and money goes into you guys diving. What an eye opener! And making the videos. Just got an eye opener in that area too. Wife has a channel that’s taking off…never realized how much goes into making a 30min video and all the money, computers, software, etc. We just got a new computer tower because the old one couldn’t handle all the data. Canadian Combat Diver. Bottom time is based on 120. Lets say 40ft is your planned depth minas depth from 120 = bottom time. In this example 80 minutes is your BT. Does not apply when repetitive diving is happening. Stay safe

We use 32% oxygen when diving and it gives us 3 hour 30 min dive time at 45 feet

Nice job Brian! I'm always amazed, though, at the very sketchy wiring and plumbing. The way cords and wireing are just pluged in and laying helterskelter etc. seems kinda of safety hazard. Be safe and get a boatload of gold!

Pretty cool stuff. Makes me wonder a couple things: Your work environment is tough one equipment and especially electronics. How long are you guys going to be able to keep it working properly? Also, do you ever sample the flow off the end of your sluice to see if you are losing gold? Your boxes look short, and it just makes me wonder. Heard Freddy Dodge talk a lot about how often people often lose gold that way.

Gold everywhere, we're just high grading the good stuff. It's not worth it to chase a 10% loss out the back. That time is better spent getting 3/4 oz an hour of fresh ground.

Excellent subject. Now if you get one of the underwater drones and send dingy out to find next dive spot or confirm direction of gold streak. Way behind that u r not using that already. Get with it Vernon. I'm on your team

Great idea, just pay close attention to your mixture percentages You should invest in some good dive computers for your divers. Nitrox is great, but you must be very very qualified as you are entering the world of mix gas diving

You might see me up there next summer.. some time back in one of your videos you were talking to someone and mentioned some local website (?) that the locals use to list items for sale etc.. I got the impression it was kind of like a craigslist but specifically to gnome there by chance, do you happen to remember the name of that? Aside from the local paper, The Nome Nugget, I haven’t found anything else? Mainly interested in finding out if anyone is trying to sell equipment, mining opportunities, etc. Anyhow, if you have an opportunity, I would love to hear back from you. Thanks!

I'm a certified diver, a very hard (and smart) worker and I'm built like an ox and would love an opportunity to get up there for what I hope would be a permanent thing. With his heart condition, age and weight, Vern can’t have too many more healthy years left. I’m surprised he chooses to spend them in pursuit of gold. Even if he strikes it rich, which seems unlikely given how many years he’s been at it already, he’ll have few years left to enjoy it. I guess it makes sense if he views gold dredging as a hobby - but he certainly speaks of it in terms that suggest he views it as a business or investment.

He's got kids and grandkids. You never know how long you have. I had a Grandfather by marriage who was a heavy smoker and drinker and had heart surgery in his late 50s. I remember him laughing when his kids were talking to him about his plans over the next 20 to 30 years. Well he made it another 22... Of course he quit the smoking and drank only a little the rest of his life.
