*1st Run Out + Absolute Beast** Preserved First Mainline Dennis Dominator 2260 (SDT 260Y)
Purchased in 2005 after withdrawal as spares for sister 2214 the bus was rallied in 2012 at the Totally Transport event however did not do service. Today after much work the bus was out for the 1st ever time carrying passengers since 2005 and i was privileged to travel on its first ever run! This is in as withdrawn condition as ex First Mainline 30420 and it was very nice to finally get to ride on an ex-SYT Dominator especially one that has been hidden for so long!

Used to travel on these often when I lived up Sheffield.great to hear the sound of that Rolls Royce engine very nostalgic.
Great memories, how much better were these than the current fleets on the road today!
Love the sound of the Rolls Royce eagle, and miss the Dominators out and about, many times walking past Midland Road Depot, listening to them idling and watching them being maintained.

Oh aye it'll hopefully be making an appearance back in South Yorkshire very soon
I remember these Dominators very well, I used to ride them almost everyday and rode them upto their final day, 25th June 2006. I even heard them in a run down condition with a sort of grinding noise of the fan belt. I once got to see some of the vehicles with the SYTT and I can remember many of what they have in the collection.
Older vehicles are so much easier to look after
I miss SYT /First Mainline Dominators as i'll never forget the smell of diesel at the back, the farting brakes and that hollow exhaust note as they pulled away from a stand still. They had Rolls Royce Eagle engines to cope with Sheffield's terrain. Another batch of Dominators i remember with the same engine was the F-PTP's First Doncaster had with East Lancs bodywork.

Aye i remember attending the 2009 SY Rally at a site that had about 10 of these and i fell in love with the vehicles, always wanted to go on one so when this event was announced and this bus was on the lineup it was a no-brainer to attend. It was incredibly nice to sample quite possibly the highlight of the year for me vehicle wise!

@@andmorebusvideos Dominators really stood the test of time and when it came to withdrawing them in 2006 some of them were 25 yrs old and still going strong. It's a shame most of them got scrapped but that was First Bus's policy at the time.

Rotherham had some back from Leicester (B84MRY etc) that were new to SYPTE in the first place but were swapped for coaches

@@jaggass I agree they where withdrawn due to DDA act being step entrance they weren't as accessible to wheelchair users first replaced them with Alx400s or eclipse Geminis some are persevered as example this bus and others in its fleet.

@@declangaming24 Some ALX400's are getting preserved now but will never match the amount of Dominators that were.
great video alex, been on gardner engined syt dominators but never a rolls royce engined one
What an absolute beast. Sadly I was about a year too late to Sheffield to sample one. A local icon.

Well this one and 2214 do at least once a year present themselves at Blackpool events so i do suggest heading over when they are listed as its worth the run!
I saw this today as I was walking past Wilko in town

Aye it is superb!
My dad went on these when he was a teenager!
What made the Rolls Royce engine so good in South Yorkshire?
What a awesome sound, Sounds like a Scania BR112DH with Voith box, I thinking this got RR engine or Scania DS11 engine?
I love old buses so much. They just go and go and don’t complain. Now it’s let’s go electric crap nowadays. Come on there’s tons of rubbish being brought out today chock full of computers and electronics which are a pain in the backside to service
Where abouts is this?
I'm sure this was in service in and around my hometown of Rotherham, distinctive engine noise, from the Rolls Royce engine 👌😊

@@markbarraclough7456 aye it made a very nice treat, the proper sounding dominator! Im unsure i know 2214 and 2260 are in Blackpool with around 6 or 7 examples at the SYTT group and a few others scattered around in PSV use.
