1st Glass Passenger Boarding Bridges Installed at Kansas City International Airport New Terminal

April 8, 2022 marked an exciting milestone for the Build KCI project. The first three of 39 glass-sided Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs) were installed onto the Kansas City International Airport New Terminal. Used to board and deplane passengers on aircraft, the bridges are manufactured in the US by JBT AeroTech and utilized at airports worldwide. Kansas City International Airport will become the largest U.S. airport to have exclusively glass PBBs. The glass boarding bridges will give passengers a unique perspective during the boarding process, offering views of their aircraft, the pilots on the flight deck, as well as other airfield activity. The bridges are fully climate-controlled and will eliminate the sometimes-claustrophobic experience of the boarding process. The glass bridges will add to the modern feel of the New Terminal and provide a memorable travel experience for locals and visitors alike.
