Here is the part 2 of the collaboration with Dara as notified last week!
I attempted to cook some Filipino cuisine for Dara who accepted my invitation and helped shooting something amazing for my channel despite her busy schedule. I’ve never been to the Philippines so I’m definitely not an expert and only cooked based on my hunch and the recipes I studied. So, this is the Ilwoo’s interpretation of Beef Kaldereta, Seafood Sinigang and Garlic Rice! Please see the recipe I tired below and try making it at home ;) Even though it was not the original taste she was expecting, thank you Dara for eating with me. Thank you to my 1lwoolies who are always there for me.
Today’s another 1DAY 1LWOO!
Thank you for being with me today.
I’d like to dedicate this video to my long-time colleague and friend, Dara.
_ Beef Kaldereta
* Ingredients: Beef brisket (600g), garlic, onion, 4 pieces of bay leaves, pepperoncino, 1 can of whole tomatoes, seafood MSG (used instead of beef broth), 2 pieces of potato, 1 piece of carrot, green olives, 1 piece of bell pepper
* Preparation:
- Finely chop the onion
- Slice 2 pieces of potato and 1 piece of carrot into cubes
- Wash 1 piece of bell pepper and slice into cube
* Instructions:
1. Heat the cooking oil in the cooking pan
2. Sauté the onion and garlic until they get browned.
3. Add the beef with salt and pepper to taste. Cook until the color turns light brown.
4. Add the dried bay leaves and crushed pepper and stir well.
5. Add the crushed whole tomatoes and bring to a boil, and also add seafood MSG.
6. Add potato and carrots until cooked.
7. Put the green olives and bell peppers to add the extra flavor.
8. Add salt and pepper to taste.
_ Seafood Sinigang
* Ingredients: tamarind paste (used instead of the sinigang powder), daikon radish, cherry tomatoes, seafoods (cod fillet, scallops, shrimps), pickled pepper, morning glory (water spinach), 1/2 onion, lime, fish sauce
* Preparation:
- Wash the seafood in water and drain water
- Wash the veggies
- Separate the leaves and stems of morning glory
- Finely chop the onion
- Chop the daikon radish into a bite size
* Instructions:
1. Add cooking oil to the pan and stir-fry the onion, daikon radish, morning glory (only stems).
2. Add enough water to the stir-fried veggies and then add the cherry tomatoes and seafoods.
3. Put the tamarind onto a strainer (remove the seed) and dissolve in water.
4. Once the soup is boiling, add the fish sauce to taste.
※ If you want to add the sourness, use the calamansi concentrate (I used lemon sauce and lime)
※ If you want to add the spiciness, add the pickled pepper and spicy pepper.
5. Finish with adding the morning glory’s leaves
_ Garlic Rice
* Ingredients: rice, sliced garlic, olive oil, butter, salt, pepper, oyster sauce, garlic flakes
* Instructions:
1. Add olive oil, butter and garlic into a hot pan.
2. Stir-fry the garlic in medium heat and make sure it doesn’t get burnt.
3. When the garlic turns brown, add rice and oyster sauce to taste and mix well.
4. Add salt and pepper to taste.

AGREE...it is just that, i really wish she could stand on her own now because she's already in the right age to settle down and a must know how to be independent...for example, by now she should know how to cook and how to do things like every woman should know and do when they're going to ave their own family someday...but i think at the same time that it is also understandable as she is so busy back then or should i say then and till now....

Everyone, we found the man who loves Dara just like we do. Someone who remains loyal and supports her in every step she makes in life and genuinely roots for her. At least we know that when Dara is feeling down, she has Ilwoo and all her true friends with her(the ones who never left her side). This makes me feel at peace. 😌

Even though the Sinigang apparently didn’t taste like Sinigang, it’s really amazing and admirable how Jung Il-woo took the time to cook Filipino food for Dara without ever being familiar to Filipino cuisine.
Watched this again after watching dara tour. They really have chemistry even if they are not aware of it. Figthing! Hoping to see more of your projects. Your dream is to be a good actor but you are already one of Korea's finest actor. ❤.

Even if they both said that they are just friends, I felt different especially with il-woo's interactions towards her. He really researched what she likes, expresses that she is still the ONLY ONE girl "friend" he had in the industry, the way he is shy to make mistakes (too shy in opening the bayleaf package, and too shy to let Dara Taste test it first, *well my guy friends its the opposite they are too blunt or shameless to me cause that's what "just" friends do,) all i see is il-woo is really trying to impress our Dara- like a non-just-friends-but-wanting-more kinda way, plus his smiles and laugh, pays attention to her like he is giddy all over (the opposite of he is trying to say) says it all. @@sinzz354 i dont think il-woo will said it even if he feels or his heart skip a beat, especially in korea that this might caused another scandal, you can say they are just being careful. (You know how it works there, even just a simple clothing that match between two celebrities can caused an issue that celebrities are dating). His words are the complete opposite of his actions as I can see.

I feel so bad I don't even use tamarind or lime whenever I cook Sinigang. I just put in the Knorr Sinigang mix and that's it. Meanwhile, Ilwoo is out here making it all from scratch and he hasn't even visited the Philippines yet!! Anyway Nice try Ilwoo next time go to the PH market and buy "Knorr Sinigang Mix" and don't forget "Magic Sarap" 😂😂😂

I once cooked sinigang without using knorr mix or any msg ingredients. I used plums instead of tamarind and it turned out really good too. So for those Filipinos in the countries where tamarind or sinigang mix aren't available, you can try plum or any sour fruits that are available in your country.

He cook the Sinigang in traditional way because he used the Tamarind instead of the Sinigang powder, what he did is correct but he must add more Tamarind to achieve the sour taste. If you put other ingredients like Lemon it will ruin the taste of the soup. Thanks for featuring Filipino dish. 😊

You can really feel that they’re very comfy with each other, they don’t hold back, they’re bold and speaks their minds. I love to hear friends who are genuinely care for one another. I agree with some comments here Dara may not be pinoy by blood but she loves and proud of the philippines more than some pinoys do. . We love her and support her at all times. I’m a Daragon but whoever she marry I will be very happy for her. ❤️ saranghae Illwoo and Dara 💕

That is true friendship when you go out of your way to learn how to cook something you know your friend really likes. I do that for my friends as well.
One thing that I like about Dara is her being a fighter. The industry that she started with is not that easy but she didnt give up, after all what had happened to her group & agency you will see her working hard on those shows in Korea. It’s still fascinating that he did all that for Dara 🥺 we all deserve a man that’s so considerate and caring like him. Also Dara will always have a filo heart she’s so kind, sweet and natural always charming.
When you’re not a pure Filipino but Filipino at heart? It’s DARA! I always admired her every time she introduced Filipino stuff. She’s kind and thoughtful that’s why her friends cherish her. I’m glad they did a collaboration, Jung Il Woo is one of my favorite actors, I didn’t know he have his own KZread channel. 😍 Friendship goals! it's so precious seeing them being friends. it's very difficult in the kpop/kdrama industry for guys and girls to be just friends and for fans to accept that although I see that the 2nd gen is more chill.
Their 13 yrs of friendship is literally the living proof that they're both amazing and wonderful persons.
