Best ps1 shmup. Really good shmup and I think the best in the rtype series

This and Einhander are my two favorite horizontal shmups of all time. They don't make shmups like these anymore.

Yes they do. Natsuki Chronicles, Drainus, Super Hydorah, Cotton Fantasy, Rolling Gunner+Overdrive, Andro Dunos 2, etc. etc. There's been a major revival of 2D and 2.5D shmups the last few years@@peace4myheart

R-Type Delta, Darius Gaiden, Gradius Gaiden, G-Darius and Einhander are the best of that mid to late 90's era of shmups on the PS1. The Raiden Project and In The Hunt kicked ass too

Let's agree to disagree Einhander is truly fascinating. Delta is surprisingly good for sure. My disappointment was the soundtracks... First level superb ... The other not that good. Einhander not only incredible, but the soundtracks are masterpieces from the intro to the ending credits. Give it a try , you will fall in love.

I'm 34 years old now, the game still holds up today

I remember this game from when I was 6 years old. Absolutely fascinated by this game graphics, sound and combat system. The opening scene, the atmosphere. Brilliant

This game is so good. I beat it last summer. Never did the 1cc though crazy respect dude.

Delta is the best in the series. Jump out to the 3D keeping his style and with gorgeous visuals, but also made some adds and improvements that were true game changing decisions for good, like the new managing of speed, not a power-up anymore, or the possibility of touch certain surfaces. Also the "Dose" attack, great add. Everything is designed to be more fair with the player while keeping the high difficulty. But also the level design, top on creativity, the sound and OST, very memorable, and the little narrative pieces without text, just visual narrative, is spectacular and adds a new layer to the game. It wasn't rated as it should in his moment, and I thinks is pretty lost for the majority of people nowdays, but this is peak R-Type.

Hello, I totally agree ! That game is one my favourite shooting games (i also like the 3rd on Super Famicom, i wish i can 1cc that one one day), with probably some darius (2, Gaiden) and Akai Katana Shin (totally fan of that one...). Have a nice day :)

They did a very nice job with the 3D graphics back then!

Remember when this game first came out? I just came off of Super R-Type and R-Type III on SNES. This was great with no slowdown and all but it felt like a cake walk tourist trap. I did in those SNES ones without a Game Genie first of all. This was a rental, and I guessed they were trying to renew interest or something because what a joke.
