Well Done! My last Saab was the 2003 black Viggen. Awesome vehicle. 4 Saabs, absolutely loved em. The Viggen was my fav next to the ‘78 99 Turbo way back. Good vid, enjoyed it.

I have one of the originals a 99 Viggen with 230k miles on the original drivetrain. The car was abused and neglected at certain points before I owned it and its still running strong. I did a lot of work to it though to catch up from years of neglect to get it driving like new again. These things are bulletproof and so long as you change the oil they rarely have major issues. You just need to watch out for rust.

Yeah, just got one. 1st big bill was mostly due to replacing radiator, thermostat, PCV valve, bleeding brakes, and that was near 50% what I paid for the car. I looked at DIYing the radiator but the forums made it sound quite elaborate and I barely have a space to work

I did a radiator change on my '02 9-5 aero which has a very similar engine bay, the whole subframe has to come out which isn't ideal, luckly the subframe bearings needed replaced as well, 230k miles on the stock ones, so it was a 2 for 1 kinda deal

Glad it went to someone who put time and money into it. My Toyota Corolla had 110,000 mi. and only had a rear tail light and a squeaky fan belt go out. My 2010 Yaris sedan at 109,000 miles has had a headlight bulb and squeaky fan belt go out. I did once had a Saab 900s coupe. At 225,000 mi it could not pass smog even with a valve job. Every time I took it into the dealer and looked at the bill I thought I was supporting a French mistress! A great style of car though. I kind of miss it - kind of :0

When I heard 2000 miles on oil only, I was like... Do you really drive you car that hard, or have too many cold starts, that you'd have to change it ever so often? And then when it summed up into 4+ thousand $ for ~17k miles, hm... But I get it, you take care of it, GenuineSAAB Taliaferro is not cheap (but one of the very best!) so sure it costs enough :) nice car though, not much Viggens left in really good condition in the US.

You should do the gumball route coast to coast your viggen would have no problem doing that. I am a Saab nutter myself I have a 2001 93 convertible and just upgraded the turbo to the td04 15t and she can really dance. I must be mental to buy a convertible in the middle of winter especially in the UK we don't get much sun here at the best of times.

most of the 4k was negligence from the previous owner I'm sure, the engines usually don't need oil changes until 5-7k miles so idk why he did it every 2k

I wouldn’t compare it to a type R because they don’t drive the same way, at all. The Viggen can’t deliver what a type R does, and neither can the Integra deliver what a Viggen does. They excel at different things and provide opposite driving experiences. Interesting comparison though, I get the connection, a worthy consideration in concept, but in real world driving experience these cars are apples and oranges.

I was thinking the same. NOT very sustainable, matey ;) Seriously. Where did you read that you need to change your oil that frequently? How does it benefit you? I drive a Maserati and I change the oil annually. Which is half the recommended interval. Most other Maserati drivers that I know do likewise. Annually in my case equals about 5,000 miles. The engine is a rebadged Ferrari engine.

I've 9000 Aero I change the oil every 3,000 miles or every six months which ever comes first after watching a top gear programme where the did a HP test on one car and proved that regular oil changes kept the HP up. Being old school I'd never run a car on manufactures recommended figures. Also I wouldn't touch this unless your prepared to go to the expense of fitting a rescue kit from Abbott racing as they have a weak spot on the engine mounting to the bulkhead. The Tork in the engine will spilt the bulkhead where the mounting is attached too. The whole dash needs to come out and most of the engine bay attached to the bulkhead . By the way the Aero has 207,987 miles on it to date and still will go off the clock, it eats M3's for breakfast

@@v60polestar88 Only Saab I've owned that had any rattle was the first; a 1983 900 turbo 8 valve. However, Mr. Polestink, my step uncle had a 2000 Volvo V90 wagon.that literally had trim pieces flying off with under 150k miles on it. So much for the durability. And I know Volvo makes excellent cars, so I don't attribute that to every Volvo out there. That's called perspective.
